Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PUT CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT BUILD HEALTHY SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY FOR ALL.
HEALTH, WELL-BEING AND FITNESS - THE Y IS A LEADING VOICE ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH, AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE, AND OPEN TO ALL FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES, AND INCOME LEVELS. IN 2014, WE PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SCHOLARSHIPS TO OVER 1,300 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. AS A RESULT, MORE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE, AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH IN SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT AS OUR NATION STRUGGLES WITH AN OBESITY CRISIS, FAMILIES STRUGGLE WITH WORK/LIFE BALANCE, AND INDIVIDUALS SEARCH FOR PERSONAL FULFILLMENT.
CHILD CARE SERVICES AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT - OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT'S WHY WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS, AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH, AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. OVER 70% OF THE CHILDREN IN OUR LICENSED BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM RECEIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. ALSO, OVER 500 SECOND GRADERS FROM FIVE AREA SCHOOL SYSTEMS PARTICIPATED IN OUR YMCA LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM. THE ALLIANCE YMCA KEEPS ITS PROMISE THAT NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY DUE TO AN INABILITY TO PAY.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - OUR YMCA BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR NEIGHBORS. Y PROGRAMS, SUCH AS G.I.F.T. AND B.I.F.T. YOUTH PROGRAMS HELD AT THE ALLIANCE YMCA HELP TO ENCOURAGE AT-RISK ELEMENTARY STUDENTS TO LIVE A HEALTHIER LIFE. ALSO, HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH WITH UNIQUE PHYSICAL AND/OR SOCIAL NEEDS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE PHYSICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS THROUGH AN INDIVIDUALIZED HEALTHY TEEN PROGRAM OFFERED AT THE Y. THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN YMCA PROGRAMS IS OPEN TO ALL AND EACH PROGRAM PROMOTES CHARACTER TRAITS OF TRUSTWORTHINESS, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, FAIRNESS, CARING, AND CITIZENSHIP.
