SCHEDULE OMERCY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF MERCY MEDICAL CENTER, INC., A MINISTRY OF THE SISTERS OF CHARITY HEALTH SYSTEM. ITS PURPOSE IS TO (1) SOLICIT FUNDS AND GIFTS FROM INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, CORPORATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS, FOUNDATIONS AND THE COMMUNITY OR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, (2) RECEIVE, RECEIPT, RECORD AND ACKNOWLEDGE ALL GIFTS, (3) APPROPRIATELY MANAGE AND INVEST THESE FUNDS, AND (4) DISBURSE THESE FUNDS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE HOSPITAL.
SCHEDULE OIN 2019, MERCY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION SOLICITED 6,189 GIFTS FROM 1,133 INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, CORPORATIONS,ORGANIZATIONS, FOUNDATIONS, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. THESE DOLLARS SUPPORTED CAPITAL AND PROGRAMMING NEEDS OF MERCY MEDICAL CENTER. SOME OF THE PROGRAMS SUPPORTED WERE FOR THE CANCER CENTER, DENTAL CLINIC AND MISSION & MINISTRY OUTREACH. THROUGH THE FOUNDATION'S EFFORTS, GRANTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $895,430 WERE AWARDED TO MERCY MEDICAL CENTER. THESE GRANTS SUPPORTED HAVEN (HEALING AFTER VIOLENT ENCOUNTERS NETWORK), WOMEN'S CANCER SERVICES AND PATIENT TRANSPORT AND SAFETY. THE MERCY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (MDF) SERVES IN AN ADVISORY ROLE TO THE MERCY SERVICE LEAGUE WHICH IS A SEPARATE 501(C)(3). IN 2019, THE MERCY SERVICE LEAGUE PRESENTED A DONATION OF $190,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO XENEX GERM ZAPPING ROBOTS FROM PROCEEDS FROM THE 2018 HARVEST BALL. THE STAFF OF THE FOUNDATION ALSO WORKED WITH THE WOMEN OF THE SERVICE LEAGUE ON THE THIRD WINE WOMEN AND SHOES EVENT HELD IN MAY. THE FOUNDATION'S STAFF RESEARCHES, PREPARES AND SUBMITS GRANTS IN SUPPORT OF MERCY MEDICAL CENTER. THROUGH THE FOUNDATION'S EFFORTS, MERCY MEDICAL CENTER WAS DIRECTLY AWARDED A VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA) GRANT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL. IN 2019, MERCY MEDICAL CENTER REPORTED $498,074 IN SUPPORT FOR THE HEALING AFTER VIOLENT ENCOUNTERS NETWORK (HAVEN). THE HAVEN TEAM IS AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE MEDICAL FORENSIC NURSING CARE AND SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS IMPACTED BY VIOLENCE, ELDER ABUSE AND NEGLECT, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SEXUAL ASSUALT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO WORKS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO SUPPORT THE WOMEN, INFANTS & CHILDREN (WIC) PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES MEDICAL AND NUTRITIONAL CARE IN CARROLLTON, OHIO FOR MERCY MEDICAL CENTER'S OFFSITE FACILITY LOCATED IN AN UNDERSERVED AREA. IN 2019, MERCY MEDICAL CENTER RECEIVED $181,964 IN WIC FUNDS.SPECIFIC 2019 PROGRAM SERVICES ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDED:*MERCY CHARITY CLAYS EVENT - THIS EVENT WAS HELD IN MAY AT ONE OF THE PRESTIGIOUS COURSES IN THE MIDWEST - HILL'N DALE CLUB IN MEDINA. THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT BENEFITED THE FOUNDATION AREA OF GREATEST NEED. PNC WAS THE PROJECT'S LEAD SPONSOR.*FORE MERCY SAKE - MERCY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION COORDINATES AN ANNUAL GOLF OUTING CALLED FORE MERCY'S SAKE. THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT BENEFIT MERCY INTERNATIONAL MISSION OUTREACH THAT SUPPORTS AN ANNUAL MEDICAL MISSION TRIP TO AN UNDERDEVELOPED COUNTRY AND MMC AREA OF GREATEST NEED. VASCO ASPHALT WAS THE PROJECT'S LEAD SPONSOR. *2019 CAMPAIGN OF CARING - KEEPERS OF THE MISSION-"WE ARE HERE FOR EVERYONE" - THIS EFFORT WAS THE FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL APPEAL TO BOTH HOSPITAL EMPLOYEES AND COMMUNITY DONORS. THE PROCEEDS FROM THE ANNUAL APPEAL BENEFIT THE HOSPITAL'S AREA OF GREATEST NEED.*DONOR CULTIVATION AND STEWARDSHIP ACTIVITES INCLUDING OUR FOUNDERS DAY MASS AND BRUNCH IN SEPTEMBER AND NUMEROUS OTHER SMALL EVENTS TO RECOGNIZE DONORS AND POTENTIAL DONORS.
