Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is a volunteer organization which exists to enrich the cultural life of the Chagrin Valley and Northeast Ohio. Through the production of live theatre and related programming, it advances the skills of individuals within the performing arts and provides educational and outreach programs to the community.

Theater productions: For the past 88 years, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre has been recognizedthroughout the region as a venue for high quality, affordable productions that showcase the talentsof area actors and delight thousands of theater lovers. During the 2018-2019 season, CVLT staged6 comedy, drama and musical productions in its 242 seat main theater, 6 newer, edgier playsat the 70 seat River Street Theatre, including its bi-annual "10 - 10 Festival", showcasing ten original 10 minute plays, submitted by local, regional and national playwrights, 2-3 Improvclasses and 5 special events. Over 11,200 individuals attended over 110 performances, given byover 200 performers.
Youth Theater: The CVLT Youth Theater offers young actors and technicians a place to learnthe basics of acting and theatre production. Over 220 students in grades K - 12 participated ina series of 10 classes or workshops held throughout the year, culminating in seven different typesof productions (14 performances total) during the fall, late February and in the summer to roughly1,700 audience members. In addition, participants in the Youth Theater program oftenperform in the Halloween and Christmas special events ("Ghosts, Goblins & Gobbledygookand "Gingerbread Tea" respectively).Penguin Project: The Director of the Youth Theater, as well as some of the technical support at CVLT,partner with a local catholic school to bring theater to students with special needs. Known as thePenguin Project, the Wizard of Oz was the show presented on April 13th and 14th, 2019 to close to600 audience members. There were 14 artists with special needs and disabilities, and 20 non specialneeds mentors/actors. All artists performed in the play.
Accent on Youth: In 2006, CVLT began "Accent on Youth", an outreach program bringing socialand relationship issues to schools through live theater featuring student actors. Because theprogram did not receive any grant funding in 2018-2019, only one production was held at TimmonsElementary School in the Kenston School district. 6 actors participated in 2 performances of a showcalled "Becoming a Timmons Hero", geared to grades K - 3. The subject matter was learning the bestbehavior for school and classroom - being kind and helping others, taking care of property andfollowing directions. A total of approximately 400 students attended the productions. The AOY program has been suspended, pending future grant funding.
