TO ACT AS ADVOCATE, PROVIDER AND FACILITATOR FOR THE FULL RANGE OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE RESOURCES, PROGRAMS AND POLICIES WHICH GIVE LOW TO MODERATE INCOME INDIVIDUALS THE OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES.
CHILD CARE PROGRAMS: HEAD START/ EARLY HEAD START PROMOTE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL READINESS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN FROM LOW INCOME FAMILIES. HEAD START AND EARLY START PROGRAMS SUPPORT THE MENTAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF PREGNANT WOMEN, AND CHILDREN BIRTH TO AGE 5. IN ADDITION TO EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT USING A RESEARCH BASED CURRICULUM AND ACTIVITIES, OUR PROGRAM PROVIDES CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH HEALTH, NUTRITION, AND OTHER SERVICES SUCH AS FATHERHOOD, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT FAMILIES IN OBTAINING SELF-SUFFICIENCY. OUR HEAD START PROGRAMS ARE RESPONSIVE TO EACH CHILD AND FAMILIES' ETHNIC, CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC HERITAGE. HEAD START ENCOURAGES THE ROLE OF THE PARENT AS THEIR CHILD'S FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT TEACHER. OUR PROGRAM BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS WITH FAMILIES THAT SUPPORT POSITIVE PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIPS, FAMILY WELL-BEING, CONNECTIONS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND BUILD SOCAIL CAPITAL AMONG PARENTS.
HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAMS, GENERAL/OTHER: COMMUNITY SERVICES IS A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM THAT SERVED 2,102 HOUSEHOLDS WITH LINKAGE TO EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, CASE MANAGEMENT, BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURSHIP, LOAN SERVICES AND TAX RETURN PREPARATION SERVICES. A TOTAL OF 4,574 INDIVIDUALS BENEFITTED FROM THESE COMMUNITY SERVICES.
THE HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: PROVIDED UTILITY BILL ASSISTANCE (INCLUDING PIPP BUDGET PAYMENT ASSISTANCE) TO 16,133 INDIVIDUALS AND 7,100 HOUSEHOLDS DURING THE YEAR 2019.
