Organizations Filed Purposes:
CINCINNATI UNION COOPERATIVE INITIATIVE PARTNERS WITH INDIVIDUALS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO DEVELOP WORKER-OWNED BUSINESSES WHICH PROVIDE FAMILY- SUSTAINING JOBS AND CREATE ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ALL.
CO-OP EDUCATION & CULTURE BUILDING. WE FACILITATED WEEKLY TEAM MEETINGS AND RETREATS WITH OUR CO-OP WORKERS AND BOARDS, INCREASING BUSINESS, FINANCIAL, AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS. WE HELD TWO SESSIONS OF A 12 WEEK BOOTCAMP CO-OP U FOR NEW CO-OP DEVELOPMENT. THREE NEW CO-OPS ARE IN FORMATION AS A RESULT. WE CONTINUED TO COORDINATE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR THE 4-SEMESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE 1WORKER1VOTE CO-OP CURRICULUM. WE HOSTED SPEAKER SARAH VAN GELDER AND TRANSFORM FINANCE WORKSHOPS. WE SPOKE AT CONFERENCES AND EVENTS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND HOSTED NUMEROUS VISITORS FROM OTHER CITIES.
TRANSITIONING BUSINESS TO EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP. WE DEEPENED OUR FOCUS TO HELPING RETIRING OWNERS TRANSITION THEIR COMPANIES TO WORKER OWNERSHIP. WE HOSTED AND PARTICIPATED IN SEMINARS ON EXIT PLANNING AND SELLING TO EMPLOYEES, AND WORKED WITH AN ADVISORY GROUP OF BUSINESS PROFESSORS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS, AND BUSINESS OWNERS TO HELP GUIDE OUR EFFORTS. WE FURTHER DEVELOPED PARTNERSHIPS WITH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ENTITIES IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ECOSYSTEM. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF SUPPORTING THE 2 YEAR TRANSITION OF A LOCAL MANUFACTURER TO WORKER OWNERSHIP AS WELL AS A WORKER TRANSITION OF A YOGA STUDIO. TWO OTHER COMPANIES ARE SERIOUSLY EXPLORING SELLING TO THEIR EMPLOYEES AS WELL.
CHILDCARE CO-OP ORGANIZING INITIATIVE. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2018-2019, CUCI COMPLETED A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON A SHARED SERVICES CO-OP AND WROTE A REPORT FOR THE PRESCHOOL PROMISE ON THE CLIFF EFFECT AND WAYS TO RAISE WAGES IN THE SECTOR. THE CARE SHARE CO-OP PROTOTYPE CONTINUED TO BE A MODEL FOR INCREASING ACCESS TO CHILDCARE WHILE PROVIDING THE CAREGIVER WITH A LIVING WAGE.
