PROVIDE HOMELESS FAMILIES EMERGENCY SHELTER AND HOSPITALITY THROUGH INTERFAITH COMMUNITIES AND TO WORK WITH FAMILIES TO FIND AND RETAIN STABLE HOUSING.
INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK OF GREATER CINCINNATI (IHNGC) PROVIDES EMERGENCY SHELTER AND HOUSING PROGRAMS FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES. IHNGC PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS. IN 2019, IHNGC SERVED 366 FAMILIES COMPRISED OF 1,247 INDIVIDUALS, 64% OF WHOM WERE CHILDREN. 84% OF FAMILIES SERVED IN 2019 ACHIEVED STABLE HOUSING AND 96% OF THOSE FAMILIES MAINTAINED THEIR HOUSING AND DID NOT RETURN TO HOMELESSNESS WITH THAT FIRST YEAR. LONG-TERM RECIDIVISM RATES FOR SHELTER SERVICES ARE 20% - THAT IS, 80% MAINTAIN HOUSING PERMANENTLY. THE EMERGENCY SHELTER PROGRAM MET THE BASIC NEEDS OF 76 FAMILIES IN 2019. OVER 1,000 VOLUNTEERS FROM MORE THAN 100 PARTNER CONGREGATIONS PROVIDED OVERNIGHT SHELTER SITES AND THREE DAILY MEALS AT HOUSES OF WORSHIP LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF CINCINNATI. THE IHNGC TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM SHUTTLED FAMILIES BETWEEN CONGREGATIONAL HOST SITES AND THE IHNGC DAY CENTER. AT THE DAY CENTER, FAMILIES WORKED WITH IHNGC STAFF TO GAIN STABLE HOUSING AND INCOME. CHILDREN'S NEEDS WERE ADDRESSED THROUGH THE CHILD ENRICHMENT PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDED SCHOOL AND DEVELOPMENTAL SUPPORT FOR 137 CHILDREN. THE PET SUPPORT PROGRAM EXTENDED CARE TO FOUR-LEGGED FAMILY MEMBERS, ALLOWING 109 PETS TO STAY ON-SITE OR WITH FOSTERS WHILE THEIR HUMAN FAMILIES WORKED TO ATTAIN HOUSING.
IN ADDITION TO SHELTER AND RELATED SERVICES, IHNGC OFFERS COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS THAT HELP FAMILIES MAINTAIN STABILITY. IN 2019, PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT AND RENTAL SUPPORT FOR 51 FAMILIES WHO HAVE A MEMBER WITH A DISABILITY AND A HISTORY OF CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS, HELPING THEM TO MAINTAIN THEIR HOUSING IN THE COMMUNITY. AFTERCARE SERVICES PROVIDED 71 FAMILIES WITH EXTENDED CASE MANAGEMENT FOLLOWING AN EMERGENCY SHELTER STAY AND SERVED AS A SAFETY-NET FOR FORMER GUESTS FACING TEMPORARY DIFFICULTIES. RAPID RE-HOUSING PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR 108 FAMILIES IN 2019 SHELTER DIVERSION HELPED 42 FAMILIES AVOID HOMELESSNESS IN 2019 THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT, HOUSING PLACEMENTS, AND RESOURCES.
