Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our professional services address mental health, poverty and the needs of seniors. We are the link between birth parents and adoptive parents, stewarding health care and placement records and offering brief counseling. We operate two food pantries and a food drop with community partners and provide case management connecting people with needed services. JFS provides trauma informed care to nearly 200 Holocaust Survivors. Programming also assists people who fled Anti-Semitism in the USSR with integrating into life in the U.S. and achieving citizenship. We invest in top talent and infrastructure to ensure we have the capacity to deliver our mission and steward donor funds effectively. In addition to staff development we also focus on board development and on building strong financials, so the agency can continue to successfully serve those who need us.
Each year, JFS helps approx. 2,000 individuals and families from diverse backgrounds achieve more sustainable lives.
"Aging and Caregiver Services: A team of agency professionals is dedicated to serving the unique needs of seniors and family members caring for them. Details of our services follow below and on Schedule O.Geriatric Care Management is a free service that helps low income older adults age in safe, secure environments with the best possible physical and mental health, food security and financial stability. JFS care managers assess need, plan care, and implement care plans, to meet clients' health and human service needs.CareLink: A fee-for-service care management program that provides Aging Life Care and Geriatric Care Management services to assist older adults and their loved ones with managing the challenges of growing older.Center for Holocaust Survivors: Serves Holocaust Survivors in Greater Cincinnati and Dayton by managing restitution benefits from the German Government and connecting survivors with health care, non-medical home care and therapeutic socialization activities to address the trauma they have faced.Senior Counseling: Specializing in the needs of older adults, this program provides access to counselors."
StarPoint Home Care non-medical caregivers provide services to assist people with aging more safely and comfortably, including assistance with: bathing, grooming, errands, meal preparation and light housekeeping. JFS is the sole member of StarPoint, which is considered a disregarded entity for tax reporting purposes. This fee-for-service program generates proceeds that are used to support our mission.
Barbash Family Vital Support Center & Vital Services: Jewish Family Service helps people in poverty with emergency assistance, resources, education and care management to become more self-sufficient. JFS provides safety net services for people facing hunger and deprivation. JFS also distributes funds for rent, mortgage, utilities, medical care, transportation, and other necessities. Care managers work closely with clients to ensure they receive public benefits and assistance available to them.
