Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Counting members and program participants, the Y reaches more than 120,000 people annually with 13 membership locations, 69 before and after school child care sites in 20 school districts, and five early learning centers across Hamilton, Highland, Clermont, Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties. The Y provides programs and services that nurture the potential of individuals and families, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility. Every day, we work to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to become healthier, more confident, and secure. Financial assistance, supported by our generous Annual Campaign donors and partners, enables the Y to provide membership and program scholarships to more than 25,000 people in the Greater Cincinnati area.

The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, founded in 1853, provides activities and programs to improve the quality of life through educational, spiritual, physical, and social changes in individuals and families. The YMCA is a charitable organization that embraces all, regardless of race, gender, ethnic origin, creed, physical ability or the financial wherewithal to pay for the social services provided. Financial assistance, in the form of the YMCA Membership for All program, is available for those who cannot afford to pay the full cost of membership or program participation and was awarded to more than 25,000 individuals and families in 2019. YMCAs are founded by volunteers, led by volunteers and encourage volunteerism in their program delivery. Volunteers serve as mentors, coaches, program leaders, instructors and board members. In 2019 over 5,000 volunteers supported our work, our values, and our mission to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Youth Development Our YMCA is committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That is why we help young people cultivate the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Our YMCA programs, such as child care, day and specialty camp programs, resident camp, arts and humanities, and 21st century learning offer a range of experiences that enrich cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth. As one of the largest providers of child development services in the Greater Cincinnati area, the YMCA is acting on its commitment to support family life, as a core education program for the future. Focusing on the diversity of the community, three infant sites, 14 early learning programs, and over 60 before and after school programs provide a safe, educational, and enriching environment for over 4,100 children each week. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial assistance available. The YMCA provides financial assistance to needy families to help defray the cost of participation. A major portion of the cost of child care program expenses, over related revenue in this area, is covered by government grants and contributions. In 2019, over 6,700 children and teens enjoyed amazing experiences at 14 summer day camp locations and our overnight camp at Camp Ernst. An excellent option for working parents, many families find this character-building time as important as a critical source of summer child care. Day camp programs have implemented the YMCA Camp Readers Initiative to encourage youth to read for a minimum of 30 minutes per day in order to combat summer reading loss and a Summer Passport was given to each camper to stay engaged and active all summer long. At Camp Ernst, over 4,000 children and teens are served during the nine weeks of summer camp. Over 400 of these camp participants were awarded full or partial scholarships to cover the cost of camp. The camp provides an incentive for all campers to perform community service (known as Community Exchange) for as many as 20 hours. More than 250 15 year olds volunteered for two to three weeks as members of the Crew program. Each crew member earns 80-120 volunteer service hours during their session.

Healthy Living The YMCA is a leading voice on health and well-being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, people in our community are receiving the support, guidance and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with an obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance and individuals search for personal fulfillment. YMCA membership engages over 120,000 individuals annually, providing an inclusive approach to connectedness among families and individuals in our community through youth and adult sports, education, and wellness programming. YMCA programs are open to the general public with options for scholarship funding. A YMCA membership provides access to information, facilities, and programs. The YMCA encourages a healthy lifestyle that connects people for healthier and happier living from family yoga to toddler swim instruction to Healthy Kids Days. In the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program, a 12-month group-based program, a trained lifestyle coach will introduce topics in a small classroom setting and encourage participants as they explore how healthy eating, physical activity, and behavior changes help them reduce their risk for developing type 2 diabetes. In 2019, 74 individuals completed the program at 7 class locations through the region. Over 21 weekly sessions were held with an average weight loss of 5.4%. The YMCA provided opportunities to develop healthy lifestyles to youth and adults, serving over 6,000 individuals in swim lessons, and 7,400 in youth sports.

Social Responsibility Our YMCA believes in giving back and supporting our neighbors. We have been listening and responding to our community's most critical social needs. YMCA programs, such as Achievers, Youth in Government, Senior programs, International mission trips and Togetherhood are examples of how we deliver training, resources and support that empower our neighbors to effect change, bridge gaps and overcome obstacles. We engage YMCA members, participants and volunteers in activities that strengthen our community and pave the way for future generations to thrive. Over 3,230 individuals volunteered for the Y, serving over 94,000 hours to strengthen community and support the YMCA. YMCA staff and volunteers went on two exploratory mission trips to determine what resources and services the Y could provide to partners in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The YMCA Achievers program, a college readiness and career exploration program which provides teens with the essential tools to pursue higher education and to identify different career opportunities, served 167 teens, and provided ACT prep courses for 39 students. The YMCA managed and provided programs for 4 senior centers, serving over 2,000 seniors, providing an outlet for physical, social and emotional health, daily meals, and day trips. The YMCA Adventure Guides program, which helps foster a lifetime of understanding and companionship and to strengthen the relationships between children and adult family members, served 171 children and dad's in 2019. Over 35 teens participated in Leaders Club, a teen character and leadership development program organized for the purpose of providing knowledge, training and experiences to teens so that they become strong leaders in their communities, fosters a spirit of service others and to shapes a healthy lifestyle in Mind, Body and Spirit.
