CORE COMPETENCIES: THE CENTER FOR COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS IS A NON-PROFIT, NONPARTISAN THINK TANK WITH OFFICES IN CLEVELAND AND COLUMBUS, OHIO. OUR MISSION IS TO IMPROVE HEALTH, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CONDITIONS THROUGH NONPARTISAN RESEARCH, POLICY ANALYSIS, COMMUNICATIONS AND ADVOCACY. THESE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS USE OUR DATA TO IDENTIFY CHANGES IN COMMUNITY DEMOGRAPHICS THAT WILL IMPACT THEIR SERVICES AND IDENTIFY THE GAPS AND OVERLAPS WITHIN THESE SERVICES. THEY USE OUR ANALYSIS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND PUBLIC POLICIES THAT AFFECT THEIR WORK AND DEVELOP ADVOCACY AGENDAS ACCORDINGLY. THEY USE OUR TIMELY AND AFFORDABLE TRAINING PROGRAMS TO INCREASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE TO BETTER SERVE THEIR CONSTITUENTS. THEY USE THE NETWORKS AND COALITIONS WE OFFER TO BUILD A STRONG VOICE ON BEHALF OF THE MOST VULNERABLE CITIZENS IN OUR COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS, FUNDERS, AS WELL AS POLICY MAKERS, RELY ON OUR DATA AND ANALYSIS TO INFORM THEIR DECISION-MAKING, WHICH CAN POTENTIALLY IMPACT ALL OHIOANS.IN 2019, THE ORGANIZATION RESEARCH, EDITED AND DISTRIBUTED NEARLY 250 PUBLICATIONS ON TOPICS SUCH AS THE STATUS OF WOMEN IN EVERY COUNTY IN OHIO; RACIAL DISPARITIES AND POVERTY, EDUCATION AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM; MEDICAID, COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS ASSESSMENTS; THE IMPACT OF ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES; IMPLICATIONS OF THE STATE BUDGET; INCREASE IN SYRINGE EXCHANGE SERVICES; ELDER MENTAL HEALTH, LONG-TERM CARE, ISOLATION AND ABUSE; MATERNAL AND INFANT MORTALITY; NAVIGATING OHIO'S BENEFITS SYSTEM; LOCAL TAXES AND THEIR SUPPORT OF HUMAN SERVICES; THE 2020 CENSUS; AND MORE.IN ADDITION, 88 PRESENTATIONS REACHED NEARLY 5,000 PEOPLE, 500 MEDIA CITATIONS DREW ATTENTION TO THE ORGANIZATION'S WORK, AND 109 MEETINGS WITH DECISION MAKERS SHARED THE ORGANIZATION'S RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS. TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE VISITED OUR WEBSITE (WWW.COMMUNITYSOLUTIONS.COM), AND THOUSANDS MORE WERE REACHED VIA VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS.
TARGETING ISSUES AND AIDS FUNDING COLLABORATIVE: THE HEALTH TEAM CO-CONVENED LARC (LONG-ACTING REVERSIBLE CONTRACEPTION) ACCESS OHIO WITH PARTNERS FROM NATIONWIDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL AND CRADLE CINCINNATI. THE COLLABORATIVE PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEW PROGRAMS IN OHIO THAT AIM TO REDUCE UNINTENDED PREGNANCY AND TEEN BIRTHS. THROUGH THE AIDS FUNDING COLLABORATIVE, STAFF PROMOTED PRE-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS (PREP) FOR HIV PREVENTION IN CUYAHOGA COUNTY, ADVOCATED FOR EXPANDED SYRINGE ACCESS, AND ALLOCATED OVER $300,000 IN GRANTS TO SUPPORT HIV/AIDS PREVENTION AND CAPACITY BUILDING NEEDS IN CUYAHOGA COUNTY. THE TEAM ALSO SUCCESSFULLY COORDINATED EFFORTS OF THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP COUNCIL AND THE COLLABORATIVE FOR COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL AGED HEALTH, WHICH CONTINUED AS A NATIONAL PILOT SITE FOR FOUNDATIONS SKILLS TRAININGS FOR YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS.
