Fundraising arm of Eversight Ohio where the mission is to restore sight and provide tissue for transplant
The Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation supported Eversight Ohio programs through a donation of $45,746. This support provided education and collateral materials regarding the Eversight Ohio new name and brand for our community partners. This support also provided the development and presentation of a CEU program to area ophthalmology offices, an informational booth at the East/West Optometry Conference and a presentation at the Cleveland Clinic Geriatric Conference regarding Eversight Ohio and the importance of research tissue. This support also enabled Eversight Ohio to send two ophthalmologists to an EBAA Leadership training on the pathway to become Medical Directors.
The Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation supported eye, organ and tissue donation awareness and media exposure throughout the NE Ohio service area. Donor sign-up booths were set-up at local hospitals, special events, colleges and in the downtown Cleveland vicinity to increase commitment on the Ohio Donor Registry. Partnerships with Delta Gamma Sorority on several college campuses promoted donation awareness during the course of the year. Commercials on iHeart Media, Fox WJW-TV and CBS Radio were developed and aired regarding the rebranding of the Cleveland Eye Bank to Eversight Ohio as well as urging listeners/viewers to become eye, organ and tissue donors. Sponsorship of the Bloodsucker's Ball (partnered with the American Red Cross blood drive that attracts over 1000 blood donors in one day) for a massive donor sign-up on the Ohio Donor Registry.
The Cleveland Eye Bank Foundation provided a Grant of $100000 to Eversight Ohio to be used to furnish and equip the Northeast Ohio Eye Disease Research Laboratory, which was recently completed. Furnishing includes the lab bench-tops as well the chairs and stools {order placed). Equipment to be purchased includes large scale items such as freezers and a biological safety hood, as well as advanced technology systems, including a microscope and imaging system to acquire high resolution fundus photographs of the ocular tissue. Eversight Ohio's research laboratory will develop a biobank in partnership with Case Western Reserve University and create a disease donor registry for area researchers to find cures/prevention of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
