INGENUITY CLEVELAND IGNITES THE SPARK OF CREATIVITY AMONG ARTISTS, ENTREPRENEURS AND INNOVATORS OF ALL TYPES, THROUGH JOY AND COLLABORATION, IN SERVICE TO CIVIC PROGRESS. WITH OUR ANNUAL INGENUITYFEST AND YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMMING, WE INSPIRE AUDIENCES, PUSH BOUNDARIES, EMPOWER COMMUNITIES AND GENERATE ECONOMIC IMPACT, ALL WHILE CHANGING ATTITUDES ABOUT OUR REGION.
INGENUITYFEST 2018: FUTUREPAST, A LARGE SCALE ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY WAS PRESENTED FROM SEPTEMBER 28-30, 2018 AT THE HAMILTON COLLABORATIVE IN THE ST. CLAIR-SUPERIOR NEIGHBORHOOD. MORE THAN 15,000 PARTICIPANTS EXPLORED 6 FULLY PROGRAMMED STAGES, AND HUNDREDS OF INSTALLATIONS, EXHIBITS, POP-UPS, AND DANCE PERFORMANCES. THE EVENT IS ACCESSIBLE AND WELCOMING TO ALL, ATTRACTING A DIVERSE AUDIENCE OF ALL AGES AND ETHNICITIES, INCLUDING FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN, YOUTH, YOUNG PROFESSIONALS, AND SENIORS. THE AUDIENCE COMES FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD, CLEVELAND, AND NORTHEAST OHIO. ADMISSION IS 5 FOR ADULTS AND IS FREE FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE UNDER 12 YEARS OF AGE. IN ADDITION TO CURATING ARTISTIC EXPERIENCES FROM A WIDE RANGE OF MEDIA, INGENUITY PROMOTED ARTISTIC COLLABORATION BY WORKING WITH OUR INGENUITYLABS MEMBERS AND INGENEERS-A GROUP OF SUPER-VOLUNTEERS FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND BEYOND. THE FESTIVAL REPRESENTS THE LARGEST COMPONENT OF OUR BUDGET.
INGENUITYLABS IS A YEAR-ROUND ARTS INCUBATOR THAT SUPPORTS LOCAL CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURS AND PROVIDES LOW-COST AND FREE ACCESS TO ARTS AND CULTURAL WORKSHOPS, LECTURES, AND EVENTS. IT PROVIDES TOOLS, SPACE, AND RESOURCES TO ARTISTS AND ENTREPRENEURS WORKING ON-SITE TO BUILD NEW PROJECTS OR SCALE BUSINESS VENTURES. INGENUITYLABS INCUBATES AN ANNUAL COHORT OF A DOZEN ARTIST-ENTREPRENEURS OR SMALL BUSINESSES WHO ARE CHOSEN TO SCALE UP CREATIVE PROJECTS THAT WILL CREATE A POSITIVE SOCIAL IMPACT. THE INGENEERS ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO MEET AT OUR SPACE WEEKLY TO HELP BRAINSTORM, BUILD, AND NETWORK. ALONG WITH OUR INGENUITYLABS INCUBATOR TENANTS, THEY HELPED DRIVE THE FESTIVAL PROGRAMMING, BRINGING SKILLS FROM DIFFERENT CAREERS AND PROFESSIONS AND CONNECTIONS TO NORTHEAST OHIO'S CREATIVE/ENTREPRENEURIAL LANDSCAPE. IN 2018 THE INGENEERS BUILT SEVERAL COLLECTIVE INSTALLATIONS FOR THE FESTIVAL, BUT MANY OF THEM ALSO PARTICIPATED INDIVIDUALLY AS EXHIBITORS FOR THEIR OWN COMPANIES, PROJECTS, AND LIVELIHOODS.
INGENUITY CLEVELAND'S THIRD MAJOR PROGRAM IS OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH, WHICH INCLUDES A MIX OF FEE-FOR-SERVICE CONSULTING CONTRACTS AND GRANT-FUNDED COLLABORATIONS TO ACTIVATE COMMUNITIES OUTSIDE OUR IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORHOOD THROUGH CREATIVITY AND INSTILL ARTS & CULTURE INTO THE URBAN CORE.
