THE STOKES SCHOLARS PROGRAM IS A PIPELINE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION INITIATIVE THROUGH WHICH MINORITY AND DISADVANTAGED COLLEGE STUDENTS ENGAGE IN PAID SUMMER LEGAL INTERNSHIPS AT CLEVELAND LAW FIRMS, COURTS, AND LEGAL NONPROFITS. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT (CMSD) OR SHAW HIGH SCHOOL IN EAST CLEVELAND, AND EXPRESS AN INTEREST IN PURSUING A CAREER IN LAW. EACH INTERN IS PAIRED WITH AN ATTORNEY-MENTOR DURING THE INTERNSHIP WHO IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING A POSITIVE INTRODUCTION TO THE PROFESSION OF LAW AND TO SERVING AS A RESOURCE FOR THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP AND BEYOND.
