JOBS FOR DADS - A BROAD WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, FATHERHOOD/PARENTHOOD DEVELOPMENT AND LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM THAT SERVES 450-500 MEN AND WOMEN ANNUALLY IN OUR THREE-COUNTY SERVICE AREA. (CUYAHOGA, LORAIN AND PORTAGE COUNTIES) 75% OF PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE PROGRAM; 10% ELECT TO PURSUE COLLEGE OR VOCATIONAL PROGRAMMING; 50% ARE GAINFULLY EMPLOYED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF COMPLETING THE PROGRAM. PASSAGES' CONTINUES TO ASSIST THE TARGET POPULATION WITH ON-GOING COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT FOR AT ONE YEAR AFTER PROGRAM COMPLETION/JOB PLACEMENT.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES FOR NON-SUPPORT OFFENDERS: LOCAL JUDGES SENTENCED LOW-LEVEL OFFENDERS WHO ARE NOT PAYING THEIR CHILD SUPPORT (CALLED NON-SUPPORT OFFENDERS) TO THIS CUYAHOGA COUNTY-FUNDED PROGRAM IN LIEU OF JAIL TIME. THROUGH SPECIALIZED SERVICES FOR NON-SUPPORT OFFENDERS, DR. BRIAN MOORE, PASSAGES FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DELIVERS NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED FATHERHOOD DEVELOPMENT: A CURRICULUM FOR YOUNG FATHERS DESIGNED BY PARTNERS FOR FRAGILE FAMILIES AND AUTHORED BY PAMELA WILSON, MSW AND JEFFREY M. JOHNSON, PHD. APPROXIMATELY 20-30 FATHERS VISIT PASSAGES ONCE A WEEK DURING A 12-WEEK PERIOD FOR TWO HOURS AT A TIME TO DISCUSS AND BUILD THEIR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS SKILLS; A TOTAL OF 160 MEN ARE ANTICIPATED TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM THIS YEAR. DR. MOORE AND TWO OF HIS EMPLOYEES ARE MASTER TRAINER CERTIFIED IN THE FATHERHOOD DEVELOPMENT CURRICULUM.
EMP-CBI- THIS INTERVENTION IS DESIGNED FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE MODERATE TO HIGH NEED IN THE AREA OF EMPLOYMENT IN THE ORAS-CST. THIS INTERVENTION RELIES ON A COGNITIVE BEHAVIOR APPROACH TO TEACH PARTICIPANTS STRATEGIES FOR IDENTIFYING AND MANAGING RISKY SITUATIONS RELATED TO OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING EMPLOYMENT. THE INTERVENTION IS DESIGNED FOR FLEXIBILITY IN DOSAGE; IT IS DELIVERED TYPICALLY AS DESIGNED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI CRIMINAL JUSTICE INSTITUTE OR ADDITIONAL ADVANCED PRACTICE SESSIONS FOR HIGHER DOSAGES, OR MODIFIED FOR LOWER DOSAGES. CLIENTS ATTEND 20 - 3 HOUR SESSIONS OVER THE PERIOD OF ONE MONTH. APPROXIMATELY 575-600 INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM PER YEAR.
