Organizations Filed Purposes: SLAVIC VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT (SVD) (THE ORGANIZATION) IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION PRIMARILY FUNDED THROUGH GRANTS AND CONTRACTS WITH NON-PROFIT HOUSING AGENCIES AND THE CITY OF CLEVELAND, OHIO. ITS PRIMARY ACTIVITIES ARE THE CONSTRUCTION, REHABILITATION, WEATHERIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF RESIDENTIAL HOMES AND MULTIFAMILY UNITS IN THE SLAVIC VILLAGE AND BROADWAY AVENUE AREA OF CLEVELAND, OHIO. ITS SUBSIDIARY MAIN STREET DEVELOPMENT, INC. IS A FOR-PROFIT ENTITY. IN ADDITION, SVD WORKS TO CREATE JOBS AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, ALLEVIATE PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC DETERIORATION, STIMULATE ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION, IMPROVE SAFETY AND PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE OF RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES LOCATED IN THE SLAVIC VILLAGE AND BROADWAY AVENUE NEIGHBORHOOD.

SLAVIC VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT (SVD) IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO WORK WITH AND FOR ITS RESIDENTS, BUSINESSES, AND INSTITUTIONS TO PROMOTE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT, AND NEIGHBORHOOD INVESTMENT. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THREE GOALS: 1.SVD IS AN ENGAGED, INCLUSIVE, AND PROACTIVE CHAMPION EMPOWERING ITS RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES. 2.SVD PARTNERS WITH RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO IMPROVE THE SLAVIC VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD THROUGH ADVOCACY AND PROMOTION. 3.SVD BUILDS SLAVIC VILLAGE AS A WELCOMING PLACE WHERE FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES CAN THRIVE.

SVD IS A LEAD PARTNER FOR THE THIRD FEDERAL FOUNDATION-FUNDED SLAVIC VILLAGE P-16. OVER THE PAST YEAR, THROUGH THE WORK OF SVD AND ITS PARTNERS, THE FOLLOWING EDUCATIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE MET: -ALL FIVE CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT K-8 SCHOOLS CONTINUED TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS IN ATTENDANCE AND TEST SCORES, WITH ALL STUDENTS RECEIVING HOUSEHOLD STABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES THROUGH THE SLAVIC VILLAGE P-16. AS A RESULT, 72% OF CHILDREN STAYED IN THE SAME SCHOOL DURING THE 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR, UP FROM 55% IN THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR -ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS RESULTED IN 88% OF 3- AND 4-YEAR-OLDS BECOMING ENROLLED IN HIGH-QUALITY PRE-SCHOOLS -EXTENSIVE TUTORING PROGRAMS HELPED 95% OF THIRD-GRADERS TO PASS THE STATE READING TEST

IN RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMIC, SVD DISTRIBUTED NEARLY 1,400 HEALTH KITS WHICH INCLUDED MULTIPLE MASKS, SANITIZER, ALCOHOL WIPES, THERMOMETERS, AND RESOURCE INFORMATION. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZATIONS, SVD STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS PERSONALLY REACHED OUT TO OVER 5,000 HOUSEHOLDS TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS PRESSING MEDICAL, FOOD- SECURITY, AND HOUSING-SECURITY NEEDS. SVD LAUNCHED THE "COMMUNITY STEWARD" PROGRAM IN NOVEMBER 2019. OVER 30 NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS RECEIVED LEADERSHIP TRAINING, RACIAL EQUITY TRAINING, AND TRAUMA-RESPONSIVE CARE EDUCATION TO PROVIDE THEM THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THEIR NEIGHBORS AND REFER THEM TO SVD AND OTHER HUMAN-SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS. THE STEWARDS WROTE MINI GRANTS TO CREATE A POSTCARD CAMPAIGN WHERE POSTCARDS WERE DECORATED WITH DRAWINGS AND POSITIVE MESSAGES AND SENT TO SLAVIC VILLAGE RESIDENTS, LED A SOCIALLY DISTANCED CHALK FEST, CREATED A VIRTUAL TALK SHOW WITH TRIVIA AND PRIZES, HELD A SOCIALLY DISTANCED HEALTHY FOOD TASTING, AND KEPT THE "IRON WARD MUSIC FESTIVAL" GOING WITH COVID-19 PROTOCOLS IN PLACE. HOUSING STABILITY PROGRAMS PILOTED BY SVD STAFF WERE ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF CLEVELAND IN NOVEMBER 2019. THE "HEALTHY HOMES INITIATIVE" PROVIDES HOUSING STABILITY RESOURCES TO HOMEOWNERS AND RENTERS IN THE FORM OF DIRECT GRANTS, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ADDRESS HOME REPAIRS, REFERRALS TO REPAIR PROGRAMS SUCH AS THE CITY'S PAINT PROGRAM, AND OTHER HELP TO MAINTAIN SAFE AND HEALTHY HOMES. 540 HOUSEHOLDS WERE ASSISTED BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2019 AND JUNE 2020.
