In 2019, the Organization again served as fiscal agent for the BLOCKLAND Solutions conference, part of a Cleveland community initiative to build a blockchain ecosystem in the Cleveland area. The BLOCKLAND effort develops this ecosystem through coordination and collaboration with industry experts, university participation, corporate involvement, city/state investment, and accelerators with available capital. It aims to work on different fronts simultaneously, pushing blockchain forward in areas like policy creation, education and philanthropy. Cleveland leaders hope the conference convinces attendees that blockchain is the next phase of the Internet - and inspires action.
The Spirit of Cleveland served as fiscal agent for the newly formed CLE Rising initiative. In addition, employees from the Convention and Visitors Bureau (a related organization), donated time and resources serving in roles managing strategy, volunteers, projects, and communications. CLE Rising is a community-wide effort to build trust and align on an inclusive vision for Greater Cleveland's economic future, with the CLE Rising Summit (held Oct. 29-31, 2019) being the primary community convening event. The Summit and its resulting work were designed to strengthen the trust within the community, creating a foundation for sustainable regional economic growth and equitable opportunities for all Greater Clevelanders to thrive.
