Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide educational opportunities and strategic initiatives that connect Ohio's urban youth, especially youth of color, with greater access to explore nature and the great outdoors through applied learning that is hands-on, cross disciplinary and project-based.
Provide educational opportunities and hands-on immersion learning opportunities and initiatives that actively engage, educate, and inspire youth to learn about ecology, human/nature relationships, natural resources, conservation and STEM career fields and learn to enjoy time spent in the great outdoors.
Create and develop a unique and culturally diverse animated 2D video and learning materials to expose minority middle school students from underrepresented groups to agricultural, environmental science, and natural resources related careers. Through culturally relevant developed materials students are provided with a unique opportunity to explore agricultural sciences, and gain knowledge about careers in animal and plant disciplines, wildlife management, biotechnology, food safety, food production, agribusiness, forestry and much more.
Fishing Expo and Career was developed to Explore the Great Outdoors through educational seminars, speakers, demonstrations, activities, and show attractions - such as the hawg trough, a 4,000 gallon aquarium measuring an astounding 40' long and 4' wide and 8' deep is a major attraction to see. Learn to enhance your angling skills from top industry experts. The expo would have provided an excellent opportunity of exhibitor booths and displays, product demonstrations, fish tackle, fish fry, kidz zone with fishing area. The Expo was planned as an opportunity for natural resource and conservation organizations to reach a diverse population in efforts to enhance the overall representation of of a diverse workforce, placement in internships on an eventual career path, and an opportunity to establish a collaborative network of partnerships and relationships. Due to the concerns over the spread of COVID-19 pandemic mass gatherings were banned at the time the event was scheduled and much planning had already taken place. Thus the expenses were paid prior to the cancellation and as a result of cancellations
Design and develop materials to expose student learning in the classroom regarding careers in conservation and natural resources (i.e., project work book, and other booklet and flatsheets).
