THE GODMAN GUILD ASSOCIATION IS AN OHIO NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO PROVIDE PROGRAMS THAT ENHANCE THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN CENTRAL OHIO. ESTABLISHED IN 1898, GODMAN GUILD IS THE OLDEST OF FIVE SETTLEMENT HOUSES SERVING COLUMBUS, AND AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE COLUMBUS FEDERATION OF SETTLEMENTS. TODAY, GODMAN GUILD ASSOCIATION FOCUSES ON YOUTH AND FAMILY EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND CONTINUES TO IMPLEMENT NEW AND CREATIVE STRATEGIES TO ENSURE THAT COMMUNITIES AND THEIR RESIDENTS ARE ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD. WE STRIVE TO CREATE GENERATIONS OF EDUCATED, EMPOWERED CITIZENS IN ALL OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS THAT WE WORK WITH.
THE MISSION OF GODMAN GUILD IS TO PROVIDE PROGRAMS THAT ENHANCE THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC MOBILITY OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN CENTRAL OHIO.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: GODMAN GUILD PROVIDES SEVERAL PROGRAMS FOR PARTICIPANTS UNDER TWO MAIN CATEGORIES: EMPLOYMENT SERVICES AND ADULT EDUCATION.OUR EMPLOYMENT SERVICES INCLUDE JOB SEARCHES, CAREER PLANNING, PERSONAL MARKETING, MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT, COACHING FOR MOCK AND INFORMATIONAL INTERVIEWING, SUPPORTIVE SERVICES AND REFERRALS, AND CASE MANAGEMENT. FOLLOW-UP AND JOB RETENTION SERVICES INCLUDE: CAREER COACHING, BARRIER REDUCTION, CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO SUPPORT CLIENT'S EMPLOYMENT RETENTION PLAN. WE ALSO OFFER CUSTOMER SERVICE CERTIFICATION WORKSHOPS.CAREER BRIDGES IS A MODERN APPROACH TO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. ALL TOO OFTEN THE SKILLS OF CENTRAL OHIO JOB SEEKERS DON'T ALIGN WITH AVAILABLE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. CAREER BRIDGES AIMS TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN UNDER AND UNEMPLOYED CENTRAL OHIOANS AND EMPLOYERS WHO LACK QUALIFIED CANDIDATES. TO BRIDGE THIS GAP, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OHIOHEALTH, GODMAN GUILD HAS DESIGNED AN IMMERSIVE EIGHT-WEEK PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE THE SPECIFIC SKILLS NECESSARY TO SUCCEED IN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITIONS THROUGHOUT THE OHIOHEALTH NETWORK. THIS INCLUDES CONTEXTUALIZED MATH AND READING SKILL DEVELOPMENT, EARNING A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED CUSTOMER SERVICE CERTIFICATION AND TWO WEEKS OF IN-DEPTH JOB SHADOWING.UNDER THE ADULT EDUCATION CATEGORY, GODMAN GUILD IS PROUD TO SERVE AS CENTRAL OHIO'S LARGEST COMMUNITY BASED PROVIDER OF GED PROGRAMMING. CURRENTLY GODMAN GUILD OFFERS GED PROGRAMMING IN WEINLAND PARK, FRANKLINTON, REEB AVENUE AND NUMEROUS OTHER LOCATIONS IN COLUMBUS AND FRANKLIN COUNTY. THESE CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO MEET STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE ON THEIR ACADEMIC JOURNEY. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING STUDENTS IN THE CLASSROOM 4 DAYS PER WEEK, GODMAN GUILD OFFERS PERSONALIZED TUTORING SUPPORT. IN ADDITION TO ACADEMIC SUPPORT, GODMAN GUILD PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH SUPPORT IN DETERMINING CAREER PATHWAYS IN ORDER TO HELP STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS OF GOING ON TO POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION, OBTAINING BETTER EMPLOYMENT OR STRENGTHENING THEIR LANGUAGE ARTS AND MATH SKILLS. GODMAN GUILD PROVIDES THESE SERVICES AND GED TESTING FREE OF CHARGE TO ANY STUDENT WHO COMPLETES ORIENTATION AND PRE-TESTING.GODMAN GUILD ALSO RECOGNIZES THE GROWING NEED FOR ESOL SERVICES IN OUR COMMUNITY. FOR THIS REASON, WE OFFER FREE ESOL CLASSES TO ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED. THESE CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO MEET STUDENTS WHERE THEY ARE AND SUPPORT THE EFFECTIVE DEVELOPMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS. MANY STUDENTS UTILIZE THESE CLASSES TO SUPPLEMENT HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY PROGRAMMING.
YOUTH AND FAMILY EDUCATION-A.C.E.S. IS AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS AT WEINLAND PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOCUSED ON BUILDING ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL SKILLS. THE ACES CURRICULUM CONCENTRATES ON READING, LANGUAGE ARTS, AND S.T.R.E.A.M. BASED ACADEMICS. OUR ACES INSTRUCTORS UTILIZE ON-ON-ONE TUTORING SESSIONS AND HOMEWORK GUIDANCE TO INCREASE STUDENT CONFIDENCE AND INTEREST IN LEARNING. ACES PROVIDES A TRAUMA-SENSITIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT AND CONTRIBUTES ACTIVELY TO THE TRAUMA-INFORMED CULTURE OF WEINLAND PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. WE WORK WITH STUDENTS TO INCREASE THEIR RESILIENCY BY PROMOTING HEALTHY SELF-ESTEEM, EMOTIONAL AWARENESS, COPING MECHANISMS, AND TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS.T.E.E.N. IS A YEAR ROUND PROGRAM FOCUSED ON PREPARING YOUNG ADULTS FOR POST-SECONDARY SUCCESS THROUGH EMPLOYMENT OR EDUCATION. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING EDUCATIONAL GROWTH, THE TEEN PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PROVIDING SKILLS TO HELP YOUNG ADULTS BECOME WELL-ROUNDED INDIVIDUALS. THIS INCLUDES ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL SKILLS AND PROMOTE PEER TO PEER INTERACTIONS. TEEN PLACES AN EMPHASIS ON PREPARING YOUNG ADULTS FOR SUCCESS IN THE WORKFORCE, WHETHER AT A SUMMER JOB OR IN A CAREER. EVERY MONDAY IS MENTORING MONDAY WHERE PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS CENTRAL OHIO SPEND TIME WITH THE PROGRAM SHARING ABOUT THEIR CAREERS, SUCCESSES AND FAILURES AND THE NECESSARY SKILLS NEEDED TO PURSUE THEIR FIELD. PART OF THIS EMPHASIS INCLUDES A RANGE OF STEM OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH PROJECTS USING DRONES, AUGMENTED TECHNOLOGIES, CODING, AND GRAPHIC DESIGN.SYEP OFFERS YOUTH IN GRADES K-8 A SUMMER DAY CAMP OPPORTUNITY. STAFF PROVIDE SUPERVISED ACTIVITIES AIMED AT BRIDGING THE SUMMER LEARNING GAP. ADDITIONALLY, PARTICIPANTS ENGAGE IN ART, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND THE BUILDING OF SKILLS AND MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS. SYEP PROMOTES RESILIENCY AND COPING SKILLS THAT CHILDREN CAN DRAW UPON DURING FUTURE CHALLENGES. IN ADDITION, WE OFFER EMPLOYMENT EDUCATION FOR "GRADUATED CAMPERS" AGES 13-18 THROUGH OUR COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM.
CAMP MARY ORTON HAS BEEN SERVING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OF THE COLUMBUS COMMUNITY SINCE 1910. CAMP MARY ORTON NOW SERVES CHILDREN, FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY, AND CORPORATE GROUPS. WE OFFER A VARIETY OF SUMMER CAMPS FOR CHILDREN, FACILITY RENTALS FOR WEDDINGS, CORPORATE RETREATS, AND PARTIES. WE ALSO OFFER TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES FOR CORPORATE, SCHOOL, AND CIVIC GROUPS AND CREATE AN OUTING FOR THE GROUP'S SPECIFIC NEEDS. THESE OUTINGS RESULT IN IMPROVED GROUP COHESION, COMMUNICATION, AND TRUST AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS. THESE TYPE OF ACTIVITIES ARE ALSO INCORPORATED INTO OUR SUMMER CAMP, PROVIDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CHILDREN TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN A NURTURING, NATURAL ENVIRONMENT.
