MHAFC IS TRANSFORMING HOW PEOPLE THINK ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS, MAKING IT EASIER TO GET HELP, AND GIVING PEOPLE THE SUPPORT THEY NEED TO GET BETTER AND STAY BETTER. OUR VISION IS A COMMUNITY WITHOUT BARRIERS TO ACHIEVING MENTAL HEALTH WHERE NO ONE FEELS ALONE ON THEIR ROAD TO RECOVERY.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FOR THE TWELVE-MONTH PERIOD OF JANUARY 1, 2018 - DECEMBER 31, 2018. THE MHAFC OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM SERVED 730 CLIENTS DURING 2018. 100% SAID THEY WOULD USE THE OMBUDSMAN SERVICES AGAIN. MHAFC CONTINUED ITS PRO BONO COUNSELING PROGRAM, LINKING VOLUNTEER LICENSED THERAPISTS WITH PEOPLE NEEDING FREE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING. IN 2018, MHAFC LINKED 258 INDIVIDUALS TO FREE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING AND PROVIDED 1,413 HOURS OF FREE COUNSELING. 79% OF SURVEYED CLIENTS REPORTED AT LEAST ONE POSITIVE OUTCOME. THE MHAFC MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM, POEM (PERINATAL OUTREACH AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR MOMS), PROVIDES SUPPORT GROUPS, MENTORING MOM PROGRAM, AND A REFERRAL & SUPPORT LINE. THE PROGRAM PROVIDED 426 SUPPORT GROUP CONTACT HOURS AND 719 INFORMATION AND REFERRAL CALLS, AND SERVED 117 PARTICIPANTS IN THE MENTOR PROGRAM. 92% OF PARTICIPANTS RESPONDING REPORTED SUCCESSFUL SYMPTOM REDUCTION AND INCREASE IN INFORMATION SUPPORT. MHAFC PROVIDED 7,736 CONTACT HOURS OF PROGRAMMING TO MENTAL HEALTH CLIENTS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGH 40 MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUPS IN DEPRESSION, SCHIZOPHRENICS ANONYMOUS, FAMILIES IN TOUCH, OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER, ANXIETY, AND BIPOLAR DISORDER. 93% OF PARTICIPANTS WOULD RECOMMEND THE GROUPS TO OTHERS. MHAFC'S GET CONNECTED PROGRAM PROVIDED CLASSES TO 59 CLIENTS WITH SEVERE MENTAL ILLNESS AND 334 CONTACT HOURS TO IMPROVE THEIR PHYSICAL HEALTH- RELATED ISSUES. 96% MADE CHANGES IN MANAGING THEIR PERSONAL HEALTH. OCCUMETRICS, A WORKPLACE WELLBEING ASSESSMENT, PROVIDED 14 ASSESSMENTS WITH 3,373 EMPLOYEES. MHAFC CONDUCTED TRAININGS FOR COLUMBUS POLICE OFFICERS ON WORKING WITH PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS. MHAFC SCREENED 1,520 PEOPLE FOR DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, PTSD, PSYCHOSIS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES, YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AND BIPOLAR DISORDER. MHAFC CONDUCTED TRAININGS IN MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID, DE-ESCALATION STRATEGIES, PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH, AND ACCESSING MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES. MHAFC CONTINUED ITS OHIO MENTAL HEALTH CAUCUS TO HELP EDUCATE LEGISLATORS ON MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES AFFECTING OHIOANS. MHAFC CONTINUES TO TAKE PART IN THE COALITION FOR HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, A CONSORTIUM OF 22 STATEWIDE ORGANIZATIONS ADVOCATING FOR IMPROVED BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE IN OHIO.
