Organizations Filed Purposes: TO SECURE HEALTHY AIR, LAND, AND WATER FOR ALL WHO CALL OHIO HOME.

DURING FY20, THE OEC'S ADVOCACY EFFORTS CENTERED AROUND SEVERAL KEY AREAS, INCLUDING: ENERGY, CLEAN WATER, PUBLIC LANDS, DEMOCRACY, AS WELL AS JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY, & INCLUSION (JEDI) AND CAMPAIGNS & COMMUNICATIONS. MOST NOTABLY ACROSS THESE AREAS, THE OEC GATHERED 1,700 SIGNATURES AND COMMENTS IN SUPPORT OF STRONGER FEDERAL CLIMATE POLICIES AND SUPPORTED LOCAL CLIMATE ACTION IN MUNICIPALITIES ACROSS OHIO; PLAYED AN IMPORTANT PART IN THE LAUNCH OF H2OHIO AND HELPED SECURE RENEWED GREAT LAKES RESTORATION INITIATIVE FUNDING TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE GREAT LAKES, IN ADDITION TO A FUNDING INCREASE OF $475 MILLION BY FISCAL YEAR 2026; HELPED PROTECT MORE THAN 40,000 ACRES OF THE WAYNE NATIONAL FOREST FROM FRACKING IN A MAJOR LEGAL VICTORY; REACHED OUT TO MORE THAN....... CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE O 1.3 MILLION OHIO VOTERS THROUGH OUR NONPARTISAN GET OUT THE VOTE EFFORTS. ADDITIONALLY THE OEC LAW CENTER FILED 4 CASES IN FEDERAL AND STATE COURTS.

DURING FY20, THE OEC FIELD DEPARTMENT UTILIZED A VARIETY OF TACTICS AND LEVERAGED HIGH LEVEL RELATIONSHIPS AND PARTNERSHIPS TO ACHIEVE VICTORIES FOR THE LAND, WATER, AIR, AND DEMOCRACY FOR ALL WHO CALL OHIO HOME. THOUGH THE PANDEMIC MEANT HAVING TO SWIFTLY SHIFT OUR BRAND OF ADVOCACY, WHICH IS DEEPLY ROOTED IN INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, TO COMPLETELY DIGITAL AND DISTANCED, WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IMPACTS IN BOTH URBAN AND RURAL COMMUNITIES. IN CLEVELAND, THE OEC WORKED WITH COALITION PARTNERS TO DEVELOP THE CLEVELAND COMPREHENSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY PLATFORM TO EDUCATE LOCAL CANDIDATES AND RESIDENTS ON ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE POLICIES. IN SOUTHEAST OHIO, WE BEGAN AND SAW GREAT SUCCESSES WITH A LOCALLY DRIVEN CAMPAIGN TO CREATE A NAMED BACKCOUNTRY AREA IN THE....... CONTINUED IN SCHEDULE OWAYNE NATIONAL FOREST THAT WOULD PROTECT UPWARDS OF 30,000 ACRES AND CREATE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL ECONOMIES OF SCALE THROUGHOUT SOME OF THE POOREST COUNTIES IN OHIO. IN NORTHEAST OHIO, THE OEC SUPPORTED LOCAL CLEAN ENERGY AND CLIMATE ACTION EFFORTS THROUGH THE POWER A CLEAN FUTURE OHIO CAMPAIGN. AND IN NORTHWEST OHIO, OUR 2020 PRIORITIES FOCUSED AROUND MAINTAINING ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE WATER FOR LOW INCOME RESIDENTS, INCLUDING PASSING ORDINANCES INFLUENCING WATER AFFORDABILITY, WATER ACCESS, AND EMERGING CONTAMINANTS.

DURING FY20, THE OEC HOSTED ENGAGING EVENTS FOR MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC, INCLUDING EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS, COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS, AND FUNDRAISING EVENTS. NOTABLY, OUR 2019 GREEN GALA RECOGNIZED OEC'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY AND THE MANY ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMPIONS WHO HAVE HELPED US SECURE HEALTHY AIR, LAND, AND WATER FOR ALL WHO CALL OHIO HOME. AT THE START OF THE PANDEMIC, THE OEC SHIFTED MANY OF THESE EVENTS TO ONLINE ENGAGEMENTS, HOSTING DISCUSSIONS WITH NATIONAL LEADERS, STATEWIDE ADVOCATES, AND LOCAL CHAMPIONS.
