WE SERVE OUR MEMBERS BY ADVANCING AND PROTECTING OHIO'S RESTAURANT, FOOD SERVICE AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY, FOSTERING AND PROMOTING GOODWILL AMONG THE MEMBERS OF THIS ASSOCIATION, PROMOTING A HIGH STANDARD OF INTEGRITY FOR ALL WHO CONDUCT BUSINESS WITHIN THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY, LEADING THROUGH COOPERATIVE ACTION AND ADVANCING BY ALL LAWFUL MEANS THE COMMON PURPOSES OF ASSOCIATION MEMBERS, AND PROMOTING ACTIVITIES ENABLING ALL OHIO'S BUSINESSES WE SERVE TO OPERATE ETHICALLY, EFFICIENTLY AND FOR THE GREATEST ECONOMIC BENEFIT.
OUR MISSION IS TO REPRESENT, EDUCATE, ASSIST AND PROMOTE MEMBERS, ULTIMATELY HELPING THEM SUSTAIN AND GROW THEIR BUSINESSES. WE ARE CONSTANTLY STRIVING TO IMPROVE AND EXCEED MEMBER EXPECTATIONS.
MEMBER SERVICES:- ORA HOLDS SIGNIFICANT EMPLOYER AND FOOD SAFETY TRAINING EVENTS ANNUALLY. ORA HELD IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL EDUCATION AND INFORMATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR ORA MEMBERS, HELPING THEM TO MEET CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS. TOPICS INCLUDE INDUSTRY SPECIFIC RISK AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT, HUMAN RESOURCES, AND FOOD AND EMPLOYER SAFETY RELATED EDUCATION. ORA PARTNERS WITH INDUSTRY LEADERS TO DESIGN STRUCTURED INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC CONTENT.- ORA PROMOTES SAFETY RESOURCES TO MEMBERS THROUGH OUR WEBSITE, EMAIL, SOCIAL MEDIA, VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON EVENTS.- ORA CONDUCTS IN-PERSON MEMBER VISITS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, WITH SAFETY/INJURY PREVENTION AS A PRIME SUBJECT DURING MEMBER SERVICE VISITS.- IN 2019, ORA FULFILLED MORE THAN 7,000 INFORMATION REQUESTS INCLUDING THOSE FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND MEMBERS. THESE INQUIRIES INCLUDE QUESTIONS ON FOOD SAFETY, EMPLOYER AND EMPLOYEE SAFETY, CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING QUESTIONS, HUMAN RESOURCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT RELATED QUESTIONS, AND QUESTIONS ON ORAS MEMBER EXCLUSIVE OFFERINGS.- ORA PROVIDES RESTAURANT AND FOODSERVICE OWNERS AND OPERATORS WITH NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES TO SHARE BEST PRACTICES, INFORMATION, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITES.
MEMBER MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS:THE MARCOM DEPT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTINUING TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN A MEMBER-DRIVEN WEBSITE FOR THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDING INFORMATION, EVENTS, CURRENT NEWS, INDUSTRY UPDATES, AND RESOURCES. QUARTERLY ISSUES OF THE ORA MEMBER MAGAZINE, A LA CARTE, WERE PRODUCED, ALONG WITH BIWEEKLY E-NEWSLETTER, NEWSBITES, BOTH INCLUDING INFORMATION RE: OPERATIONS, LEGISLATIVE UPDATES, MEMBER STORIES, AND PRODUCTS & SERVICES THE ORA PROVIDES MEMBERS TO ASSIST THEM IN BUSINESS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WORKERS' COMP, SERVSAFE, HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS, WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT, OFFICE SUPPLIES & MUSIC LICENSING. EVENTS FOCUSED ON INDUSTRY INSIGHTS, INSPIRATIONS AND OPERATIONS SPANNED THE YEAR AND THE STATE.
MEMBER ADVOCACY: THE ORA ADVOCATES FOR COMMON SENSE, PRO-ECONOMIC GROWTH POLICIES AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE THAT THE BUSINESS CLIMATE IN OHIO CONTINUES TO ALLOW OUR MEMBERS TO THRIVE WHILE CONTRIBUTING TO OHIO'S ECONOMY, EMPLOYING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF OHIOANS, AND SERVING COMMUNITIES LARGE AND SMALL THROUGHOUT OHIO. IN 2019 WE LOBBIED SIGNIFICANTLY FOR PRO-BUSINESS, PRO-GROWTH POLICIES NATIONALLY, AT THE OHIO STATEHOUSE, AND WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. WE ADVOCATED FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT POLICIES THAT EXPAND OPPORTUNITY IN OHIO, INCLUDING FOR UNDERUTILIZED AND DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS, AND CONTINUED SIGNIFICANT EDUCATION EFFORTS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF FOOD SAFETY AND WORKPLACE SAFETY BOTH TO OUR MEMBERS AND TO ELECTED AND COMMUNITY LEADERS.
