PHILANTHROPY OHIO (POH) SUPPORTED OUR MEMBERS BY: (1) SERVING AS A SPOKESPERSON WITH VARIOUS EXTERNAL AUDIENCES INCLUDING MEDIA, STATE AND FEDERAL POLICY MAKERS AND THROUGH INTERACTION WITH OHIO'S CHIEF CHARITY REGULATOR THROUGH SERVING ON THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S CHARITABLE ADVISORY COUNCIL; (2) PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PHILANTHROPY'S VOICE TO BE HEARD IN STATEWIDE EDUCATION POLICY REFORM THROUGH OUR EDUCATION INITIATIVE, INCLUDING MONTHLY CONVENINGS OF PHILANTHROPY; (3) ENGAGING PHILANTHROPY THROUGH OUR HEALTH INITIATIVE TO ADDRESS STATE HEALTH POLICY, IDENTIFYING WAYS TO COLLABORATE AND TO SUPPORT POLICY CHANGES TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF OHIOANS; (4) ADVOCATING FOR A FULL, FAIR AND ACCURATE 2020 CENSUS COUNT; AND (5) ADDING OHIO PHILANTHROPY'S VOICE TO POLICY DISCUSSIONS RELATED TO CHARITABLE GIVING.

EDUCATING: SHARING THE WISDOM FROM LOCAL EXPERTS, NATIONAL THOUGHT LEADERS AND PEERS THROUGH PROGRAMS AND KNOWLEDGE RESOURCES THAT IMPROVE PHILANTHROPIC PRACTICES. IN 2019 POH OFFERED 96 PROGRAMS, SERVING OVER 1,104 PARTICIPANTS. 235 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE PHILANTHROPY FORWARD '19 CONFERENCE, COMPRISED OF WORKSHOPS AND SITE VISITS. IN ADDITION TO THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE, POH OFFERS PROGRAMS IN 7 CORE COMPETENCY AREAS (COMMUNICATIONS, FINANCE & INVESTMENTS, GOVERNANCE, GRANTMAKING, MANAGEMENT, PUBLIC POLICY AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT) AND VARIOUS ISSUE AREAS (EDUCATION, STATE BUDGET AND HEALTH) REGIONALLY, STATEWIDE AND VIA WEBINARS. POH ALSO ENHANCED KNOWLEDGE BY ANSWERING 58 REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION IN 2019, PRODUCING 152 NEWSLETTERS AND SPECIALIZED PUBLICATIONS INCLUDING THE OHIO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ROSTER, A REGION- AND OHIO-SPECIFIC COMPENSATION REPORT AND THE OHIO GIVES REPORT.

CONVENING: ENGAGING PEOPLE IN MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS, PROVIDING SPACE FOR LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER, COLLABORATING AND STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS IN ORDER TO AMPLIFY IMPACT. POH MAINTAINS SEVERAL ELECTRONIC LISTSERVS THAT ALLOW MEMBERS TO INTERACT WITH PEERS, POSING QUESTIONS AND SEEKING ADVICE. IN 2019, POH MEMBERS CONNECTED THROUGH THE LISTSERVS, WITH 233 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS PROVIDED. THIRTEEN NEW PEER GROUPS FORMED, BOTH REGIONALLY AND STATEWIDE, TO CONNECT MEMBERS WITH THOSE WITH SIMILAR ROLES AND INTERESTS.
