Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO ENHANCE AND EXPAND THE CAPACITY OF THE DAYTON METRO LIBRARY TO ACCOMPLISH ITS MISSION AND GOALS.

DONATION FOR THE IMAGINE PORTAL AT THE MAIN LIBRARY. THE IMAGINE PORTAL IS AN INNOVATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL SPACE WHERE CHILDREN CAN BE INSPIRED WITH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES, AN EXPANDED COLLECTION, ENHANCED TECHNOLOGIES AND ENGAGING PROGRAMMING. THIS GRANT FUNDING SUPPORTED THE PURCHASE OF PROVEN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY/SOFTWARE, EARLY CHILDHOOD MANIPULATIVES, AND THE CREATION OF AN ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS ACADEMIC AND RECREATIONAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN, TWEENS AND FAMILIES.

DONATION FOR THE CREATION OF A NEW CONFERENCE ROOM AT NORTHWEST BRANCH, SIMULTANEOUSLY ENHANCING DAYTON METRO LIBRARY PROGRAMMING AND SPPORTING COMMUNITY GROUPS. THE OPPORTUNITY SPACE WILL BE AVAILABLE AT NO CHARGE FOR PUBLIC GATHERINGS OF CIVIC, INFORMATIONAL, CULTURAL OR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSING GROUPS OF APPROXIMATELY 20-25 PEOPLE. CONFERENCE ROOM B WILL ALSO BECOME THE DEDICATED HOME TO THE "ROCK YOUR HOMEWORK" PROGRAM, A PARTNERSHIP AMONG DAYTON METRO LIBRARY, THE CITY OF DAYTON, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON, LEVERAGING AMERICORPS MEMBERS AND ACTIVE LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDE AFTER-SCHOOL HOMEWORK HELP TO NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN AND TEENS PROVIDING ACADEMIC SUPPORT THAT PLACES YOUTH ON A POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL PATH. SPECIFICALLY, THE COMMUNITY ROOM WILL BE ENHANCED WITH A MOBILELAPTOP CART AND A MOBILE STORAGE CABINET. BOTH OF THESE ADDITIONS WILL BE DEDICATED TO THE HOMEWORK HELP PROGRAMMING PARTNERSHIP. OTHER ADDITIONS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY MEETINGS INCLUDE A COAT RACK, DVD PLATER, WHITEBOARDS,TABLES AND A/V CONNECTIONS, AS WELL AS THE REQUIRED SIGNAGE CHANGE FOR CLARITY AND WAYFINDING.

DONATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF REFERENCE BOOKS. THE CHARLES E. HOFFMAN FUND AND THE J. EDWARD AND JENNIE B. HOFFMAN FUND ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED TO HELP DAYTON METRO LIBRARY PROVIDE A WORLD-CLASS COLLECTION. THE LIBRARY WILL USE THESE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF RELEVANT REFERENCE BOOKS AND IMPORTANT TITLES OF NATURAL HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY BOOKS TO ADD TO THE COLLECTION. THESE BOOKS CIRCULATE AMONG ALL PATRONS AND SUPPORT READERS OF ALL AGES.
