SHELTER: YWCA DAYTON IS THE SOLE PROVIDER OF EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN FLEEING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, STALKING AND/OR HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN MONTGOMERY AND PREBLE COUNTIES OF OHIO. YW CASE MANAGERS PROVIDE TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE THAT MEETS THE NEEDS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL AND RECOGNIZES THE UNIQUE IMPACT OF VIOLENCE IN WOMEN'S LIVES. YW OPERATES A 24 HOUR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/SHELTER HOTLINE IN CONJUNCTION WITH SHELTER SERVICES. THE HOTLINE SERVES AS INTAKE FOR THE SHELTER AND PROVIDES CALLERS SUPPORTIVE LISTENING AND SAFETY PLANNING. THE HOTLINE PROVIDES WOMEN WITH A RESOURCE THAT PROVIDES ANSWERS, SUPPORT AND ASSURANCE.
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICES: YWCA DAYTON PROVIDES SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICES THAT DELIVER RAPID RE-HOUSING OF WOMEN OR FAMILIES FLEEING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. CASE MANAGEMENT AND RENTAL ASSISTANCE AFFORD CLIENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ESTABLISH PERMANENT INDEPENDENCE. TRANSITIONAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES EXIST FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN AS THEY EXIT EMERGENCY SHELTER. CASE MANAGEMENT, SUPPORT GROUPS AND LIFE SKILLS BUILDING PROVIDE WOMEN WITH THE TOOLS NEEDED TO IDENTIFY AND ACCOMPLISH GOALS.
PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING: YWCA DAYTON PROVIDES HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO WOMEN WHO FALL WITHIN THE POPULATION OFTEN TERMED 'THE MIDDLE HOMELESS.' MORE THAN 60 WOMEN TRANSITION FROM THE STREETS AND SHELTERS TO STABLE, PERMANENT HOUSING THROUGH YW'S PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM EACH YEAR. DURING THE PROCESS, YW CASE MANAGERS ASSIST WOMEN IN ADDRESSING ISSUES OF SUBSTANCES ABUSE, MENTAL/PHYSICAL DISABILITIES, AND HISTORIES OF VIOLENCE AND ABUSE.
