Organizations Filed Purposes: THE PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF NOCAC IS TO PLAN, DEVELOP, AND COORDINATE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO COMBAT POVERTY FOR THE RESIDENTS OF DEFIANCE, FULTON, HENRY, PAULDING, VAN WERT AND WILLIAMS COUNTIES. NOCAC WORKS ON BEHALF OF LOW-INCOME PEOPLE TO ATTAIN SKILLS NECESSARY TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROVIDED PART YEAR COMPREHENSIVE PRESCHOOL SERVICES TO 335 LOW-INCOME CHILDREN IN 10 CENTERS WITH 20 CLASSROOMS. TRANSPORTATION SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 270 OF THESE CHILDREN USING 18 BUSES. TEACHERS PROVIDED COMPREHENSIVE HOME-BASED SERVICES TO 33 ADDITIONAL LOW-INCOME CHILDREN. MEDICAL EXAMS WERE RECEIVED BY 369 CHILDREN AND 269 RECEIVED DENTAL EXAMS WITH 71 RECEIVING FOLLOW-UP TREATMENT. CLASSROOM CHILDREN WERE SERVED 29,694 BREAKFASTS, 40,095 LUNCHES AND 30,658 SNACKS THAT MET USDA REGULATIONS. CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED TO 1,959 CHILDREN BY 114 PROVIDERS/CENTERS FOR 1,047 CARETAKERS WHO WERE INCOME ELIGIBLE AND EITHER WORKING OR ATTENDING CLASSES. EACH PROVIDER RECEIVED MONITORING AT LEAST TWICE PER YEAR BY NOCAC STAFF. THIRTEEN SUMMER FOOD SITES SERVED 12,560 MEALS THAT MET USDA REQUIREMENTS TO 1,665 UNDUPLICATED CHILDREN IN JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST. ONE HUNDRED TWENTY HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVED 2,000 WEEKEND MEAL BAGS.

COMMUNITY SERVICES MADE 13,546 PAYMENTS FOR UTILITIES, RENT, FOOD, GASOLINE, PRESCRIPTIONS, OR EMPLOYMENT RELATED NEEDS ON BEHALF OF LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS. THE SOUP KITCHEN SERVED 11,283 MEALS TO LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS. IT ALSO PROVIDED 3,887 UNITS OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSUMERS AND FOR FOOD DONATION PICKUP. USDA FOOD COMMODITIES WERE DISTRIBUTED TO 270 LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. FOUR EMERGENCY SHELTER ROOMS HOUSED 201 HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS FOR 5,540 NIGHTS. ONE HUNDRED TWELVE HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS OR FAMILIES HAD PAYMENTS MADE TOWARD RENT, RENT ARREARAGES, DEPOSITS AND/OR UTILITY BILLS. THIRTEEN INCOME ELIGIBLE CONSUMERS PARTICIPATED IN INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTS FOR HOME OWNERSHIP OR TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION. THREE HOMES WERE PURCHASED AND FOUR CONSUMERS RECEIVED POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION IN 2019. NINETY-THREE INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN "GETTING AHEAD IN A JUST GETTING BY WORLD" CLASSES. FINANCIAL COACHING CLASSES WERE GIVEN TO 87 CLIENTS AND 191 PEOPLE ATTENDED MONEY MANAGEMENT CLASSES. APPLICATION FOR 3,381 LOW-INCOME CUSTOMERS WERE PROCESSED RESULTING IN AN AFFORDABLE INCOME-BASED UTILITY PAYMENT PLAN. TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT AIR CONDITIONERS AND ONE HUNDRED NINETY-FOUR FANS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO ELIGIBILITY HOUSEHOLDS. NOCAC PROVIDED 989 LOW TO MODERATE INCOME HOUSEHOLDS WITH FREE TAX PREPARATION THROUGH THE OHIO BENEFIT BANK.

HOUSING AND ENERGY SERVICES PROVIDED 121 HOMES WITH WEATHERIZATION SERVICES INCLUDING ATTIC/SIDEWALL/FLOOR INSULATION AND AIR DUCT SEALING. ONE HUNDRED THIRTY FURNACES, 61 HOT WATER HEATERS, 5 ROOFS, 264 NON-EFFICIENT REFRIGERATORS, FOUR FREEZERS, AND TWO COOK STOVES WERE REPLACED. ELECTRICAL UPGRADES WERE COMPLETED ON 19 HOMES, EXHAUST FANS WERE INSTALLED IN 114 HOMES, PLUMBING REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED ON 5 HOMES, 1 HOME RECEIVED WINDOW REPLACEMENTS, 1 HOME HAD A SHOWER, TOILET AND GRAB BARS INSTALLED, AND 1 HOME RECEIVED STEP REPAIRS, ONE RECEIVED GUTTERS, ONE HOME HAD GAS LINE REPAIRED, THREE HOMES HAD FURNACE REPAIRS AND 3 HOMES RECEIVED RAMPS. ENERGY EFFICIENCY BULBS WERE INSTALLED IN 118 HOMES. SMART POWER STRIPS WERE INSTALLED IN 30 HOMES. CONSUMER EDUCATION WAS GIVEN TO 119 HOUSEHOLDS.
