Organizations Filed Purposes: COLLABORATE WITH EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ORGANIZATIONS AS PARTNERS IN DESIGNING AND DELIVERING A COMPREHENSIVE AND COHESIVE SYSTEM OF SERVICES WHICH ADDRESS THE IMMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM WORKFORCE NEEDS OF EMPLOYERS AND PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT.

THE LEADER IN ME IS AN INNOVATIVE PROGRAM THAT TEACHES 21ST CENTURY LEADERSHIP AND LIFE SKILLS TO STUDENTS AND CREATES A CULTURE OF STUDENT EMPOWERMENT BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE THAT EVERY CHILD CAN BE A LEADER. BASED AROUND STEVEN COVEY'S 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE, THE LEADER IN ME IS BEING IMPLEMENTED INTO FINDLAY-HANCOCK COUNTY SHCOOLS TO SERVE AS A FOUNDATION FOR BUILDING SOFT SKILLS. EXAMPLES OF THE SOFT SKILLS BEING TAUGHT THROUGH THE LEADER IN ME INCLUDE LEADERSHIP, RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, PROBLEM SOLVING, ADAPTABILITY, AND TEAMWORK. THESE SKILLS TRANSLATE INTO THE WORKFORCE AS THE SOFT SKILLS IDENTIFIED BY BUSINESS AS A HIGH NEED.

THE MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE HOSTED APPROXIMATELY 1,000 EIGHTH GRADE PARTICIPANTS FROM FINDLAY-HANCOCK COUNTY. LOCAL MANUFACTURERS RECREATED PLANT ACTIVITIES IN A HANDS-ON, EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING SETTING AND PLANT TOURS AT LOCAL FACILITIES WERE OFFERED TO HELP CHANGE THE PERCEPTION OF MANUFACTURING OPPORTUNITIES IN HANCOCK COUNTY. THIS PROGRAMMING IS MEANT TO OFFER EARLY EXPOSURE AND ENGAGEMENT IN THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR IN AN EFFORT TO KEEP GRADUATING STUDENTS STAYING AND WORKING IN THE COMMUNITY.

THE OHIO FEDERATION FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING EDUCATION (OHFAME) IS A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FRAMEOWORK BASED ON TOYOTA'S ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN (AMT) PROGRAM. THE EARN-WHILE-YOU-LEARN MODEL PROVIDES STUDENTS THE PATHWAY TO EARN AN INDUSTRY RECOGNIZED DEGREE WHILE GAINING VALUABLE EXPERIENCE AT A SPONSORING COMPANY. IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS, GRADUATES OF THE PROGRAM, EARN AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE, AN AMT CERTIFICATION, AND LOG APPROXIMATELY 1,800 ON-THE-JOB HOURS AT THEIR SPONSORING COMPANY. WHEN SELECTED, STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE 40-HOUR PER WEEK TRAINING PROGRAM WHERE THEY ATTEND COLLEGE TWO DAYS A WEEK AND WORK THREE DAYS A WEEK (AT LEAST 24 HOURS) AT THEIR SPONSORINGH COMPANY. IN 2019, RAISE THE BAR FORMED OHFAME AS THE FIRST CHAPTER IN OHIO JOINING 13 OTHER STATES. IN THE FIRST COHORT,11 PARTICIPATING STUDENTS JOINED A SPONSORING COMPANY. THE MULTI-SKILLED TECHNICIAN IS A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER SKILL SET AND IS IN HIGH-DEMAND WITHIN THE HANCOCK COUNTY MANUFACTURING COMMUNITY.
