THE STATE SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITION FOR OHIO, OHIO ALLIANCE TO END SEXUAL VIOLENCE (OAESV) ADVOCATES FOR COMPREHENSIVE RESPONSES AND RAPE CRISIS SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS AND EMPOWERS COMMUNITIES TO PREVENT SEXUAL VIOLENCE. OUR OBJECTIVES INCLUDE: END ISOLATION OF SURVIVORS AND AGENCIES WORKING ON THEIR BEHALF, TO IMPROVE SERVICES AND RESPONSES TO SURVIVORS AND ALL THOSE IMPACTED BY SEXUAL VIOLENCE, INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT SEXUAL VIOLENCE, AND TO INFORM AND SHAPE PUBLIC POLICY. SEXUAL VIOLENCE IS A FORM OF OPPRESSION THAT IS CONNECTED TO, SUPPORTS, AND IS SUPPORTED BY OTHER FORMS OF OPPRESSION. OAESV BELIEVES THAT THE EFFORT TO CONFRONT ANY FORM OF OPPRESSION REQUIRES A COMMITMENT TO CONFRONTING ALL FORMS OF OPPRESSION.
VOCA - TRAINING OF ADVOCATES AND COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO SERVE DIVERSE SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS, PROVIDE VICTIM ADVOCACY IN COMMUNITIES WITHOUT RAPE CRISIS CENTERS, PROVIDE LEGAL ADVOCACY FOR SURVIVORS, FACILITATE THE OHIO SURVIVORS ADVISORY GROUP, AND OFFER RESOURCE LINE FOR INFORMATION/REFERRAL STATEWIDE.
RPE: RPE RECIPIENTS WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH DIVERSE STAKEHOLDERS, INCLUDING STATE SEXUAL VIOLENCE COALITIONS, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, RAPE CRISIS CENTERS, COMMUNITY ORGAINIZATIONS AND OTHER STATE AGENCY PARTNERS TO GUIDE IMPLEMENTATION OF THEIR STATE SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION EFFORTS. AS A STATEWIDE COALITION WHO UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION WE RECEIVE FUNDING TO BE ABLE TO DO: ANNUAL CONFERENCE, 4-5 REGIONAL MEETINGS, 2 STATEWIDE TRAIN THE TRAINERS, YOUTH PREVENTION EDUCATION, SUPPORT OF THE BETHEONE OHIO CAMPAIGN, AND UPDATE CURRICULUM. RAPE PREVENTION EDUCATION FUNDING ALLOWS THE COALITION TO TRAIN AND CREATE BYSTANDER INTERVENTION PRACTICES, K-12 CURRICULUM CREATION AND SCHOOL POLICY WORK, TRAIN ON OUTER LAYER AND INDIVIDUAL PREVENTION, AND COORDINATE A STATEWIDE PREVENTIONIST/EDUCATORS NETWORK.
OVW- UNDER THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT- GRANTS TO STATE SEXUAL ASSAULT AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COALITIONS. THIS GRANT AWARE SUPPORTS THE STATE COALITION'S EFFORTS TO COORDINATE VICTI SERVICES WITHIN ITS STATE, AS WELL AS COLLABORATE WITH OTHER FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL ENTITIES TO RESPOND TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ISSUES. STATEWIDE SEXUAL ASSAULT COALITIONS PROVIDE DIRECT SUPPORT TO MEMBER RAPE CRISIS CENTERS THROUGH FUNDING, TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PUBLIC AWARENESS ACTIVITIES, AND PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY.
