OUR MISSION AT KITTEN KRAZY IS TO HELP THE LOST, ABANDONED, STRAY AND UNWANTED CATS AND KITTENS IN MEDINA COUNTY AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES. WE ARE A PRIVATE 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT CAT SHELTER THAT PRIMARILY TAKES IN, AT OUR DISCRETION, HEALTHY, WELL-SOCIALIZED KITTENS UNDER 6 LBS. THEY ARE FULLY VETTED INCLUDING SPAY/NEUTER PRIOR TO ADOPTION.
KITTEN KRAZY WAS FORMED IN MAY 2004 AND DESIGNATED AS A NONPROFIT AS OF AUGUST 4, 2004 TO HELP THE LOST, ABANDONED, STRAY AND UNWANTED CATS AND KITTENS IN MEDINA COUNTY AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES FIND A PLACE OF REFUGE. ONCE IN OUR CARE, THE CATS ARE TYPICALLY FULLY VETTED WITHIN THE FIRST FEW HOURS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SPAY/NEUTER, WHICH IS SCHEDULED WITHIN THEIR 14-DAY QUARANTINE HOLD TO ENSURE THEY ARE HEALTHY ENOUGH FOR SURGERY. ONCE CATS ARE DEEMED HEALTHY, THEY ARE PLACED IN ONE OF SEVERAL FREE-ROAMING ADOPTION ROOMS WHERE THE GOAL IS TO FIND THEM THEIR NEW FOREVER HOME. SINCE WE ARE A PRIVATE SHELTER, WE DO NOT QUALIFY FOR GOVERNMENT FUNDING AT THE LOCAL, STATE OR FEDERAL LEVELS. INSTEAD, WE RELY ON OUR ADOPTION FEES, FUNDRAISING AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, CORPORATE AND INDIVIDUAL DONORS, TO HELP US WITH OUR MISSION TO ENSURE THAT ONE DAY THERE WILL BE NO MORE HOMELESS CATS AND KITTENS. OUR PRIMARY FUNDRAISING EVENT IS HELD ANNUALLY IN SEPTEMBER CALLED THE "SPAY-GHETTI AND NO BALLS DINNER- AND IS WELL-ATTENDED. OUR FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WENDY MIRROTTO, CREATED A TV SHOW CALLED CAT CHAT TO PROVIDE VIEWERS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT CAT BEHAVIOR, MEDICAL ISSUES, AND KITTEN KRAZY ADOPTABLE CATS. AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2019, KITTEN KRAZY HAS PLACED OVER 6,090 FULLY VETTED CATS AND KITTENS.
QUICK FIX LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC IS A PROGRAM OF KITTEN KRAZY, INC. IT WAS OPENED ON JULY 1, 2011 TO PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY, HIGH-VOLUME, LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER AND WELLNESS SERVICES FOR CATS AND DOGS TO MEDINA COUNTY RESIDENTS AND ANIMAL ORGANIZATIONS AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. IT WAS CLOSED PERMANENTLY ON 7/24/19 DUE TO NUMEROUS REASONS. AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION, WENDY AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS CHOSE TO SHUT IT DOWN; HOWEVER, THE VETERINARIAN WALKED OUT 2 DAYS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED SHUT DOWN AND THAT BECAME THE "LAST DAY" OF OPERATION. THE STAFF WAS LET GO AND THE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES ARE BEING SOLD TO PAY OFF OUR OUTSTANDING DEBT OF APPROXIMATELY 50,000 CREATED BY HAVING QUICK FIX.
MITTLER'S FLEA MARKET BEGAN AS AN ON-LINE AUCTION IN AUGUST 2019 THAT HAS PROVIDED A STEADY INCOME STREAM EXCLUSIVELY FUNDING KITTEN KRAZY AND IS HELPING TO PAY DOWN THE UNSECURED DEBT CREATED BY QUICK FIX. WITH OVER 7,000 SQUARE FEET OF WAREHOUSE SPACE, FUTURE EXPANSION INTO A FLEA MARKET BUSINESS MAY BE FEASIBLE. WE BEGAN ON-LINE SALES AND HAVE DONE VERY WELL. DONATIONS ARE MADE BY THE PUBLIC VIA WORD OF MOUTH. AT THIS TIME, NO ADVERTISING IS NEEDED AS THE WAREHOUSE IS FILLING UP DUE TO THE GENEROSITY OF OUR PUBLIC SUPPORT.
