Organizations Filed Purposes: ACTC'S MISSION IS TO ASSURE EVERY QUALIFIED NEWARK HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION. WORKING WITH THE NEWARK CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND STUDENTS, ACTC PROMOTES EARLY AWARENESS FOR POST HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION; PROVIDES ASSISTANCE WITH PREPARING HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS FOR COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMS; PROVIDES FINANCIAL AID COUNSELING FOR COLLEGE AND NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS; PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS IN COMPLETING COLLEGE ADMISSIONS APPLICATIONS AND SUBMITTING THE FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID).

SCHOLARSHIPS; FINANCIAL AID COUNSELING; WORKING WITH THE NEWARK CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PROMOTE EARLY AWARENESS FOR POST HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION; ASSISTANCE TO JUNIORS IN COLLEGE PREPARATION TESTING; ASSISTANCE TO SENIORS IN COMPLETING COLLEGE ADMISSIONS APPLICATIONS AND SUBMITTING THE FAFSA (FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID).

IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-2020, OVER 2,610 VOLUNTEER HOURS WERE PROVIDED BY 278 COMMITTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS. 92.7% OF THE FRESHMEN, JUNIORS AND SENIORS ATTENDING NEWARK HIGH SCHOOL PARTICIPATED IN ONE OR MORE OF OUR SERVICES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: ADVISING APPOINTMENTS; ACT TEST REGISTRATION, PREPARATION AND COMPLETION; EVENING COLLEGE-RELATED WORKSHOPS; AND SCHOLARSHIP GRANT APPLICATIONS. 261 SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS WERE AWARDED TO NEWARK HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES.

THE EARLY AWARENESS PROGRAM ENCOURAGES YOUNGER STUDENTS TO ASPIRE TO AND BE INFORMED ABOUT COLLEGE BY SPONSORING TARGETED ACTIVITIES FOR ALL 2ND, 4TH, 6TH AND 8TH GRADE STUDENTS IN THE NEWARK CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM.

IN 2018 A CALL TO COLLEGE [ACTC] ENTERED INTO COLLABORATION WITH THE MARION WETZEL TRUST, PARK NATIONAL BANK TRUSTEE [TRUST] WHEREIN THE TRUST WOULD BECOME A TYPE III NON-FUNCTIONALLY INTEGRATED SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION, AS DESCRIBED IN REG. 1.509(A)-4(I), OF ACTC. THE PURPOSE OF THIS COLLABORATION IS TO FURTHER THE SUPPORT OF THE DR. MARION D. WETZEL SCHOLARSHIP WHICH FUNDS NEEDS BASED COLLEGE EXPENSES FOR GRADUATES OF NEWARK [OHIO] HIGH SCHOOL. IN 2018, THE TRUST ENGAGED IN APPLYING TO THE LICKING COUNTY [OHIO] PROBATE COURT AND THE STATE OF OHIO FOR APPROVAL OF CHANGES TO THE TRUST TO CARRY OUT THIS PURPOSE AND THESE HAVE BEEN APPROVED. IN NOVEMBER OF 2018 AND IN ANTICIPATION OF THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN THE TRUST AND ACTC BEING FINALIZED, THE TRUST AND ACTC EXECUTED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING [MOU] SETTING FORTH KEY ELEMENTS OF THE RELATIONSHIP. A COPY OF THE MOU WAS ATTACHED TO THE 2018 RETURN. WHILE THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP WAS NOT FINALIZED IN 2018, IT WAS IN PROCESS IN 2018 AND ACCORDINGLY WAS DISCLOSED AND REPORTED IN 2018. AN APPLICATION TO THE IRS BY THE TRUST WAS SUBMITTED IN 2019 AND APPROVED IN 2020.
