THE AMA MONITORS FEDERAL AND STATE LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY ACTIVITY. IN 2019, 4500 BILLS WERE REVIEWED, AND 405 WERE TRACKED AT THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL. STAFF BASED IN WASHINGTON D.C, PICKERINGTON, OH, AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA OFFICES TAKE ACTION AS NEEDED, INCLUDING SENDING INFORMATIONAL MAILINGS TO AMA MEMBERS, PREPARING NEWS RELEASES, OFFERING TESTIMONY, AND PROVIDING INFORMATION TO KEY LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES. IN 2019, 37,552 EMAILS TO OFFICIALS WERE SENT, 4,831 PETITION SIGNATURES, AND 5,292 COMMENTS WERE SENT TO REGULATORY AGENCIES.
