Organizations Filed Purposes:
PIANO INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NORTHERN OHIO (PIANO) IS A PREMIERE MUSICAL ORGANIZATION PRESENTING WORLD-CLASS PROGRAMS IN SUPPORT OF PIANISTS WHO HAVE DEDICATED THEIR LIVES TO OUR MUSICAL HERITAGE. CREATED IN 1994 AS THE PRESENTING ORGANIZATION OF THE CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION (CIPC), THE ORGANIZATION HAS SINCE GROWN TO ENCOMPASS A BROAD RANGE OF PROGRAM ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING THE CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION AND THE CIPC CONCERT SERIES. PIANO'S MISSION IS TO HONOR PIANISTIC EXCELLENCE, SUPPORT THE BEST MUSICAL QUALITIES OF YOUNG ARTISTS, ENCOURAGE THE PERFORMANCE OF AND ACQUAINTANCE WITH THE GREAT REPERTOIRE OF MUSIC, AND TO PROMOTE INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP AND GOOD WILL THROUGH MUSIC.
THE CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION (CIPC) IS A QUADRENNIAL, FIFTEEN-DAY EXTRAVAGANZA CELEBRATING THE PIANO AND THOSE WHO DEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO MASTERING ITS ART. SINCE 1975 IT HAS ATTRACTED TOP-TIER CANDIDATES, AGES 18-30, WHO COMPETE BEFORE A MULTI-NATIONAL JURY AND ENTHUSIASTIC AUDIENCES FOR TOP HONORS AND SPECIAL PERFORMANCE PRIZES.THE MOST RECENT CIPC WAS HELD IN 2016. THE CIPC WAS HELD OVER 15 DAYS WITH 20 PERFORMANCE SESSIONS, 11 SEPARATE FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES, AND OVER 10,000 IN PHYSICAL ATTENDANCE. THERE WAS ALSO ONLINE ATTENDANCE AND THE 2016 CIPC WAS BROADCAST ON WCLV. THE NEXT CIPC WAS TO BE HELD IN 2020 BUT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO 2021. DURING 2020, THE ASSOCIATION WILL PRESENT VIRTU(AL)OSO: A GLOBAL PIANO COMPETITION FOR ARTIST RELIEF.THE CIPC PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDES THE CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION AND THE CIPC CONCERT SERIES. THE CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION IS A NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR PIANISTS AGES 12 THROUGH 17 WHICH IS HELD ON A QUADRENNIAL BASIS IN THE SECOND YEAR PRECEDING THE CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION. CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS TESTS THE SKILLS OF YOUNG PIANISTS WITH CHALLENGING REPERTOIRE AND A COMPETITION EXPERIENCE JUDGED BY PROFESSIONAL PIANISTS. A DISTINGUISHING FEATURE OF THIS COMPETITION IS THAT ALL CONTESTANTS ARE PROVIDED WITH A CRITIQUE OF THEIR PERFORMANCE FROM EACH MEMBER OF THE JURY. THIS SPEAKS TO THE GOAL OF THE YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION, WHICH IS TO DEVELOP THE PERFORMANCE CAPABILITIES OF YOUNG PIANO STUDENTS, RENEW THEIR COMMITMENT TO PIANO STUDIES, AND PROVIDE AN IMPORTANT LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE. THE MOST RECENT CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION WAS HELD IN 2018. THE CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION WAS HELD OVER 9 DAYS, THERE WERE 8 PERFORMANCE SESSIONS, 13 SEPARATE FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES, AND OVER 2,500 INDIVIDUALS IN PHYSICAL ATTENDANCE. THE 2018 CIPC COMPETITION WAS ALSO AVAILABLE ON A LIVE WEBCAST FOR AUDIO AND VIDEO FROM PIANO'S WEBSITE. THE NEXT CIPC YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION WILL BE HELD IN 2022. THE CIPC CONCERT SERIES IS A FULL YEAR OF CONCERTS FEATURING EXTRAORDINARY MUSICIANS FROM AROUND THE WORLD.CIPC PREPARATORY CAMP FOR YOUNG ARTISTS IS A PROGRAM THAT WORKS WITH ASPIRING YOUNG PIANISTS TO FURTHER DEVELOP THEIR TALENTS.COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO BRING MUSIC INTO ALL FACETS OF GREATER CLEVELAND. WE PARTNER TOP-TIER PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, SCHOOLS, AND SENIOR LIVING FACILITIES TO CREATE INNOVATIVE AND MEANINGFUL PROGRAMS FOR AUDIENCES OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS.
