SENIOR CENTERS, INC. OFFERS A WIDE RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AGE 60 AND OVER; TO PROVIDE AN OUTLET FOR CREATIVE TALENTS, OPPORTUNITIES TO PURSUE PARTICULAR INTERESTS AND ASSISTANCE IN HELPING THEM TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT IN THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING SUPPORT, OUTREACH, INFORMATION AND DIRECT SERVICES.
A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO SERVE OLDER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AGE 60 AND OVER BY PROVIDING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT ENHANCE THEIR DIGNITY, SUPPORT THEIR INDEPENDENCE AND ENCOURAGE THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY.
FOSTER GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGH THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL SERVICE, STATE OF OHIO VOLUNTEER FUNDS AND LUCAS COUNTY LEVY FUNDS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOW INCOME ELIGIBLE PERSONS, AGE 55 OR OVER. THESE VOLUNTEERS ARE TRAINED TO WORK WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN AGE 19 OR YOUNGER IN THE COMMUNITY IN SUCH NON-PROFIT SETTINGS AS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, DAY CARE CENTERS AND HEAD START PROGRAMS. VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE ORIENTATION, MONTHLY IN-SERVICE TRAININGS, MEAL AND MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT AND HOURLY VOLUNTEER STIPEND.IN 2019, 75 VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 50,102 HOURS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
SENIOR CENTER SERVICES AND PROGRAMS FUNDED THROUGH LUCAS COUNTY SENIOR LEVY PROGRAM INCOME AND SMALL FUNDRAISING PROJECTS. OUR SERVICES AND PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE: EDUCATIONAL, RECREATIONAL AND WELLNESS ACTIVITIES - 442 ACTIVITIES AND HOURS OF INSTRUCTION, SERVING 327 CLIENTS; HEALTH SCREENINGS AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS (INCLUDING BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS, BLOOD SUGAR SCREENINGS CONDUCTED BY MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS) - 1,403 SCREENINGS PROVIDED TO 105 CLIENTS; SUPPORTIVE SERVICE AND CARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES - PROVIDE INFORMATION, REFERRAL, SORTING THROUGH UTILITY AND MEDICAL BILLS, ASSISTANCE WITH INSURANCE, ASSISTANCE WITH SIGNING UP FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES- 2,748 DIRECT CONTACTS TO 429 CLIENTS; ERRANDS SERVICE - RUN ESSENTIAL ERRANDS FOR SENIORS- 552 ERRANDS TO 73 CLIENTS; CENTER VAN TRANSPORTATION - PROVIDED 2,215 ONE WAY TRIPS TO SENIORS TO AND FROM OUR CENTER FOR ACTIVITIES AND MEALS; IN-HOME HOUSEKEEPING - PROVIDED 2,258 HOURS OF LIGHT HOUSEHOLD CLEANING TO 53 SENIORS IN THE COMMUNITY (THIS SERVICE ENABLES OUR CLIENTS TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT, LIVING AT HOME BY PROVIDING ASSISTANCE WITH DAILY LIVING TASKS)
ADULT DAY SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES- CONTRACT THROUGH LUCAS COUNTY TO PROVIDE ADULT DAY SUPERVISED PROGRAMS FOR 5 HOURS A DAY, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FOR UP TO TEN INDIVIDUALS. LICENSED AND CERTIFIED THROUGH THE OHIO DEPT. OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, THE PROGRAM PROVIDES FULLY INTEGRATED PROGRAMMING WITH OTHER CENTER ACTIVITIES INCLUDING RECREATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, COMMUNITY OUTINGS AND TRANSPORTATION TO COMMUNITY EVENTS.
