Organizations Filed Purposes:
To grow the economy by making Sioux Falls a better place to live, work and raise a family, and to make Sioux Falls a more attractive tourist destination.
SculptureWalk is an exhibit of sixty-two outdoor sculptures loaned by the artists for year round display in downtown Sioux Falls. The sculptures are installed in May of each year and are removed in April of the following year to make room for the new incoming sculptures. Since the inaugural year of 2004, eight-hundred and fifty-seven sculptures have been through SculptureWalk, and two hundred and five have been sold or commissioned. The program is going into it's 18th year in 2020. Satellite programs are Avera McKennan Hospital ten indoor sculpture exhibit, University of Sioux Falls eleven sculptures on campus, University of South Dakota with seven sculptures, City of Vermillion, SD with five sculptures, City of Watertown, SD with fifteen sculptures and twenty-three other sculptures on lease at various locations in Sioux Falls, SD. The sculptures are available for sale and compete for People's Choice Award. The winning sculpture is purchased by the City of Sioux Falls. Approximately three hundred thousand people experience SculptureWalk every year.
Arc of Dreams - A $3,000,000 privately funded (by the public) monumental sculpture that will span the Sioux River in downtown Sioux Falls. The sculpture was installed in July 2019 and was made possible by the generosity of over seven hundred twenty donors.
The South Dakota Sculpture Trail is a collaborative effort of organizations and communities that have invested in public art sculptures to premote local tourism and actively promote art and culture in their communities. The cities that are participating in this program are Watertown, Vermillion, Yankton, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Chamberlain, Lemmon along with Crazy Horse Memorial and Mount Rushmore National Monument. This program was closed in 2019 and transferred to the State of SD Tourism.
