CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU (CVB) - THE CVB IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING SIOUX FALLS AS A VISITOR DESTINATION IN ORDER TO ADVANCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. THE CVB BOOKED 155 CONVENTIONS, MEETINGS, AND EVENTS INVOLVING 87,224 PEOPLE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS. THE CVB DISTRIBUTED 50,908 VISITOR GUIDES VIA MAIL, DIRECT MAIL, READER RESPONSE, DOWNLOADS AND VIEW, AND ALSO TO CONVENTIONS, MEETINGS AND EVENT ATTENDEES IN SIOUX FALLS. THE TOTAL NUMBER OF VISITORS TO SIOUX FALLS ESTIMATED BY THE CVB IS 1,810,614. THE CVB SERVICED 144 CONVENTIONS, MEETINGS AND EVENTS INVOLVING 444,587 PEOPLE. THE CVB PRINTS PUBLICATIONS SUCH AS SIOUX FALLS VISITOR GUIDE (215,000 COPIES). THE CVB TRAVELS NATIONWIDE DOING SALES CALLS AND BID PRESENTATIONS TO BRING NEW BUSINESSES TO THE CITY. MEMBER SERVICES - MEMBER SERVICES CONSISTS OF COMMITTEES SUCH AS THE AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE (PROVIDES A STABLE SOURCE OF INCOME VIA DUES BY SECURING NEW CHAMBER MEMBERSHIPS); DIPLOMAT COMMITTEE (MAINTAINS MEMBERSHIP STRENGTH IN THE SIOUX FALLS AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE); MILITARY AND VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE (IMPROVES THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL ACTIVE, GUARD, RESERVE, RETIRED AND DISABLED MILITARY PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILIES). THE DIPLOMAT COMMITTEE SPONSORS THE FOLLOWING EVENTS: 12 MEMBERSHIP MIXERS (AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF 250 PROFESSIONALS); GOOD MORNING SIOUX FALLS (INFORM MEMBERS OF IMPORTANT ISSUES AFFECTING OUR COMMUNITY AND STATE- 2 EVENTS WITH AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF 250). AGRI-BUSINESS - THE AGRI-BUSINESS DIVISION WORKS TO ADVANCE AND PROMOTE THE SIOUX EMPIRE AS AN AGRICULTURAL CENTER THROUGH ACTIONS THAT PROVIDE A HIGHER VISIBILITY OF THE INDUSTRY. EXAMPLES OF AGRI-BUSINESS DIVISION ACTIONS THAT CAPITALIZE ON THE TRUE PURPOSE OF THE DIVISION MOST COMMONLY COME IN THE FORM OF EVENTS. ANNUAL EVENTS INCLUDE: SIOUX EMPIRE LIVESTOCK SHOW, AG APPRECIATION DAY AND NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY AT THE BARN. TOGETHER, EVENTS AND OTHER DIVISION PROGRAMS, BRING AG AWARENESS TO THOUSANDS AND ATTRACTS ABOUT 30,000 VISITORS, ANNUALLY.
