Through the building and use of wooden boats, ASF helps young people turn their lives around and provide families, community groups and schools with meaningful educational and social experiences.
Apprentice program - Provide young men and women, ages 16-22, with skills necessary to become independent, productive adults. This is a full-time paid program lasting 8-10 months.
Commission projects - Commission projects are a training ground for apprentices. The projects include new boat contstruction, boat repair and other carpentry projects
Community outreach - Activities designed to connect with the community, honor Alexandria's maritime heritage and activate the local waterfront.
