MEETING AND CONVENTIONS - ASTA HOLDS AN ANNUAL MEETING AND TRADE SHOW WHICH OFFERS EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR ALL SELLERS OF TRAVEL. THE TRADE SHOW PROVIDES NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL SELLERS OF TRAVEL AND THE TRAVEL SUPPLIERS. THE MEETING DRAWS APPROXIMATELY 1,000 ATTENDEES. ADDITIONALLY IN 2017, THE ORGANIZATION HELD A PREMIUM SUMMIT, A CAC/LEGISLATIVE DAY, AND AN ASTA SHOWCASE.
TRAVEL INDUSTRY SUPPORT - ASTA PROVIDES TRAVEL AGENTS WITH VITAL INFORMATION NEEDED TO MANAGE THEIR BUSINESS. ASTA KEEPS TRAVEL AGENTS INFORMED OF INDUSTRY STANDARDS AND ISSUES, PROVIDES MARKET RESEARCH, AND COMMUNICATES CHANGES AFFECTING TRAVEL AGENTS. ASTA WORKS WITH VARIOUS GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES INCLUDING DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND TSA TO PROMOTE THE INTERESTS OF THE INDUSTRY AND THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC. ASTA SUPPORTS DAILY INDUSTRY UPDATES THROUGH ASTA SMART BRIEFS WHICH IS AVAILABLE AT NO COST TO THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY AND THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC. ASTA INTRODUCED THE VERIFIED TRAVEL ADVISOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IN 2017. THIS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM PROVIDES A HIGHER LEVEL OF VERIFIABLE PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE TO THE ADVANCED SELLER OF TRAVEL.
DESTINATION EDUCATION - ASTA PROVIDES CERTIFIED INTERNATIONAL DESTINATION COURSES TO HELP TRAVEL AGENTS ATTRACT BUSINESS AND INCREASE SALES. THESE COURSES ARE OFFERED ONLINE AND IN CLASSROOM SETTINGS. COURSES HIGHLIGHTING REGIONS ARE BROUGHT TOGETHER AT AN ANNUAL MEETING WITHIN THAT REGION. THE COURSES DRAW 300 TO 500 PARTICIPANTS A YEAR.
