IN 2019, THE ANCOR FOUNDATION ANNOUNCED A THREE-YEAR NATIONAL PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN, INCLUDED. SUPPORTED. EMPOWERED., TO HIGHLIGHT THE SUCCESSES OF COMMUNITY INTEGRATION AND THE ROLE OF PROVIDERS IN SUPPORTING PEOPLE WITH I/DD TO BE ACTIVE, VALUED AND CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. IN 2019, THE CAMPAIGN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED, INCLUDING THE LAUNCH OF A WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE TO HOUSE STORIES, TARGETED EARNED MEDIA EFFORTS AND MORE, LAYING THE GROUNDWORK FOR EXPANSIVE GROWTH IN 2019.

THE ANCOR FOUNDATION'S LEGACY LEADER CIRCLE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES ARE FOCUSED ON PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND RECOGNITION OPPORTUNITIES FOR I/DD PROFESSIONALS. IN 2019, THE ANCOR FOUNDATION RECOGNIZED AND CELEBRATED THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THREE LONG-TIME ANCOR MEMBERS WHO HAVE MADE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ASSOCIATION DURING THEIR TENURE AS A MEMBER. 2019 INITIATIVES ALSO INCLUDED THE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, THE RENEE L. PIETRANGELO LEADERSHIP FORUM (OFFERED AS A THREE-HOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS WORKSHOP AT ANCOR'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE), SPONSORSHIP OF TWO WEEK-LONG LEADERSHIP INSTITUTES BY THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONSORTIUM ON DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, AND ONE-YEAR MEMBERSHIPS TO THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS FOR 54 DSP OF THE YEAR AWARD RECIPIENTS.

THE NATIONAL ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN IS DESIGNED TO BRING AWARENESS TO THE SIGNIFICANT NEED FOR INVESTMENT IN THE DIRECT SUPPORT WORKFORCE. THE CAMPAIGN'S SIGNATURE RESOURCE FOR DRIVING INCREASED AWARENESS IN 2019 WAS THE CASE FOR INCLUSION 2019, A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF DATA ASSESSING ALL 50 STATES AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA ON NEARLY FIVE DOZEN MEASURES OF HOW WELL STATE PROGRAMS ARE PROMOTING THE INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH I/DD. THE JANUARY LAUNCH KICKED OFF A YEAR OF SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS, PRESENTATIONS AND COLLABORATIONS DESIGNED TO SHOW THE SCOPE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES FACING THE DISABILITY SERVICES FIELD.
