Organizations Filed Purposes: AFFIRM'S mission is to improve the management of federal information technology. AFFIRM brings together people from federal agencies, industry, nonprofits and academia to educate and inform the federal IT community and nurture and mentor the next generation of IT leaders to address high level IT and management issues.

AFFIRMs monthly Speakers Series features agency CIOs and others discussing program, best practices, and upcoming initiatives. Programs highlight cabinet-level agencies and their departments/sub-agencies. In 2019, over 2,000 government technologists attended AFFIRMs monthly luncheon programs, which were delivered via online forums after March 2020.

AFFIRMs annual leadership awards recognizes outstanding leadership in the federal government, honoring individual and team agency executives and managers with outstanding leadership from the preceding year. Awards are for demonstrated leadership leading to successes in specific categories such as Information Technology, Cyber Security, Mobile Technology, Innovation, Rockstar Rookie and the Presidents Award. AFFIRMs annual golf outing is a scholarship fundraising event. Proceeds from the event go towards AFFIRMs scholarship program to support the education of future IT leaders. AFFIRMs scholarship and grant program supports STEM educational opportunities for students attending District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area accredited institutions and nonprofit organizations that focus on STEM leadership and workforce development programs.The annual joint AGA and AFFIRM half-day educational event is held in each year and provides insightful dialogue on the intersection of policies and management issues that impact Chief Financial Officers (CFO) and Chief Information Officers (CIO) and how they work together to improve efficiency and transparency, reduce risk, and strengthen the workforce.AFFIRM's annual Federal IT Career Workshop & Job Shadow Day event introduces STEM students to careers and opportunities in Federal information technology. Students hear from IT executives across the Federal government and from past attendees, gain exposure to employment opportunities within the Federal workforce, get tips from those who make hiring decisions, learnwhat the future holds for Federal IT professionals, and have an opportunity to sign-up to shadow a Federal IT executive for a day.
