THE FOUNDATION SEEKS TO SERVE THE PUBLIC, FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEONS, OTHER PHYSICIANS, AND MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS BY FOSTERING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE IN FACIAL PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, AND SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH.
THE FOUNDATION IS AN EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY WHICH SEEKS TO SERVE ITS MEMBERS, MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS, AND THE PUBLIC BY FOSTERING THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE IN FACIAL PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY.
EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS - THE AAFPRS FOUNDATION HAS CONSISTENTLY PROVIDED QUALITY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR THE DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION AMONG FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEONS. IN 2019 THE FOUNDATION HELD 2 MEETINGS WITH OVER 1,000 DOCTORS IN ATTENDANCE.
GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS - THE AAFPRS FOUNDATION AWARDS PROGRAM WAS INSTITUTED TO RECOGNIZE RESEARCH COMPLETED AND PREVIOUSLY PRESENTED AT AN ACADEMY MEETING AND RECOGNIZE MEMBERS WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACADEMY AND THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE GRANTS PROGRAM HAS 3 GRANTS THAT CAN BE AWARDED EACH YEAR: RESIDENT RESEARCH GRANT WHICH STIMULATE RESIDENT RESEARCH PROJECTS IN FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY, AN INVESTIGATOR DEVELOPMENT GRANT WHICH PROMOTES CLINICAL OR LABORATORY RESEARCH IN FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY, AND THE BERNSTEIN GRANT GIVEN TO RESEARCH PROJECTS THAT PROMOTE FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY. THE FOUNDATION HAS THE MANY FACES OF GENEROSITY CAMPAIGN WHICH SUPPORTS FUNDING TO EXPAND RESEARCH EFFORTS AMOUNT ITS MEMBERS AND HAS 2 GRANTS AND A SCHOLARSHIP FOR THIS CAMPAIGN.
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM - THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM OF THE AAFPRS FOUNDATION IS WIDELY RESPECTED BY THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY AND REPRESENTS THE FINEST POST-GRADUATE PROGRAM IN THE WORLD FOR TRAINING OF FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEONS. SINCE ITS BEGINNING IN 1969, THIS PROGRAM HAS PREPARED MORE THAN 1,500 HIGHLY SPECIALIZED EXPERTS TO BE EDUCATORS AND LEADERS IN FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY.
