To provide scholarships and charitable donations to local Alexandria area charities.
The purpose of the corporation is the funding of charitable and educational activities which serve the City of Alexandria, Virginia, or the Alexandria Post Office areas of Fairfax County, Virginia, consistent with the goals of the American Legion and Alexandria American Legion Post 24.
Scholarships -provide need based scholarships: 1. $2,500 per year to two qualified seniors attending Alexandria high schools and who will major in science, mathematics or engineering, renewable for a total of 4 years if the student attends college full-time and maintains a B average. 2. $1,500 each year to a nursing student at Northern Virginia Community College.
CASH DONATIONS TO QUALIFIED CHARITIES IN THE ALEXANDRIA AREA. NO ORGANIZATION RECEIVED MORE THAN $5,000.
