THE CURE PROGRAM: CURE WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING AN INDUSTRY STATEMENT WHICH MAKES A COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT WORLD FOREST CONSERVATION AND REFORESTATION. ITS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY HAS BEEN TO ENSURE THAT POLICY MAKERS AND CUSTOMERS WITHIN THE INDUSTRY UNDERSTAND THE POSITIVE ROLE COMMERCIAL FORESTRY HAS IN HELPING TO PRESERVE THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD'S FORESTS. FUNDS FROM THE CURE PROGRAM ARE OFTEN SPENT ON EDUCATION ABOUT INTERNATIONAL WOOD PRODUCTION AND TROPICAL REFORESTATION AND TO SUPPORT THE MARKET FOR GLOBALLY SOURCED WOOD PRODUCTS FROM SUSTAINABLY MANAGED FORESTS. THIS PROGRAM HAS NOT ONLY CHANGED PERSPECTIVES ABOUT REFORESTATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITIES BUT HAS ALSO SERVED AS A SOURCE OF BENEFIT AND PRIDE FOR THE ASSOCIATION AND INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE.
