THE SOCIETY OF NAVAL ARCHITECTS AND MARINE ENGINEERS (THE "SOCIETY") IS A TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATION UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE (THE "CODE"). THE SOCIETY IS AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED NON-PROFIT, PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY OF INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS SERVING THE MARITIME AND OFFSHORE INDUSTRIES AND THEIR SUPPLIERS. THE MISSION OF THE SOCIETY IS TO ADVANCE THE ART, SCIENCE AND PRACTICE OF NAVAL ARCHITECTURE, MARINE ENGINEERING, OCEAN ENGINEERING AND OTHER MARINE-RELATED PROFESSIONS THROUGH THE GLOBAL EXCHANGE OF KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS RELATIVE TO THE MARINE INDUSTRY,EDUCATION IN ENGINEERING AS IT RELATES TO THE MARINE INDUSTRY, MEMBER CAREER DEVELOPMENT, AND ENCOURAGING AND SPONSORING RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN NAVAL ARCHITECTURE, MARINE ENGINEERING, OCEAN ENGINEERING AND OTHER MARINE FIELDS.
PUBLICATIONS: SOCIETY MEMBERS HAVE WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED MILLIONS OF PAGES OF ORIGINAL RESEARCH, TECHNICAL PAPERS, BOOKS AND OTHER CONTENT. ESTABLISHING SNAME AS A WORLD-WIDE LEADER IN THE ADVANCEMENT OF NAVAL ARCHITECTURE AND MARINE ENGINEERING.
FUNCTIONS AND MEETING: SNAME HOSTS HUNDREDS OF EVENTS EVERY YEAR, FROM THE ANNUAL SNAME MARITIME CONVENTION (SMC), TO INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIA TO SECTION GATHERINGS. EVENTS OFFER VENUES NETWORKING AND FELLOWSHIP AND REGULARLY FEATURE STATE OF THE ART TECHNICAL PRESENTATIONS AND OTHER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.
