Organizations Filed Purposes: Our mission is to bring history to life on Alexandria's waterfront. We will educate visitors on the important role the Continental Navy and Captain John Paul Jones played in the American Revolution. The story of the Continental Navy in the Revolution is not widely know, but one that was crucial to the maritime and merchant interests of the country.

Our mission is to promote the rich maritime history in Alexandria, Virginia.

Providence is a reproduction of the first ship authorized to serve in the Continental Navy. Daily tours include an introduction to the history of the ship, its role in the American Revolution and an overview of how George Washington's work as a surveyor fits into the overall story. Visitors are greeted by a guide in period clothing who presents an overview before escorting them to them to the ship where they are greeted by Captain John Paul Jones. Once aboard, visitors will visit the quarterdeck, main deck, Captain's Cabin and the hold, where they will learn what life was like for a Sailor aboard an 18th century ship and hear a tale or two from Capt. Jones. Tall Ship Providence will also host education programs for area schools, youth groups such as Boy and Girl Scouts, and craft beer and wine tasting cruises, private charters and dinners.
