THE MISSION OF THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN PHILHARMONIC ASSOCIATION IS TO INSPIRE AND INSTILL A LIFELONG PASSION FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF CLASSICAL MUSIC IN ARTISTS AND AUDIENCE THROUGH STIMULATING CONCERTS, CULTURALLY DIVERSE COLLABORATIONS, AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH.

THE YOUTH AND CONCERT ORCHESTRAS SERVED THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING A RANGE OF ORCHESTRAL PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCES FOR ELEMENTARY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS.
WMPA OCCASIONALLY CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION FOR SYMPHONIC MUSIC COMPOSITIONS. THE COMPETITION IS OPEN TO COMPOSERS OF ANY AGE WHOSE PERMANENT RESIDENCE IS IN THE EASTERN STATES (ME, NH, VT, NY, MA, RI, CT, PA, NJ, DE, MD, DC, MI, OH, IN, WV, VA, KY, TN, NC, MS, AL, GA, SC AND FL).
