Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PROVIDE INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION FOR POST-SECONDARY CAREER SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES. THE COMMISSION ACCREDITS APPROXIMATELY 750 SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES IN THE UNITED STATES, PUERTO RICO AND ABROAD AND IS RECOGNIZED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

ACCREDITATION: ACCSC IS A PRIVATE, NON-PROFIT, INDEPENDENT ACCREDITING AGENCY WHOSE MISSION IS TO SERVE AS A RELIABLE AUTHORITY ON EDUCATIONAL QUALITY AND TO PROMOTE ENHANCED OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS BY ESTABLISHING, SUSTAINING, AND ENFORCING VALID STANDARDS AND PRACTICES WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGHLY TRAINED AND COMPETITIVE WORKFORCE THROUGH QUALITY CAREER ORIENTED EDUCATION. AS AN ACCREDITING AGENCY, ACCSC IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSURING THAT MEMBER INSTITUTIONS AND THEIR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE CAPABLE OF PREPARING STUDENTS FOR THEIR CHOSEN CAREERS. THE ACCREDITING PROCESS ALSO ASSURES STUDENTS AND THE PUBLIC THAT HIGH STANDARDS OF CAREER EDUCATION ARE BEING MET.
MEETINGS: ACCSC PROVIDES FUNCTIONS NECESSARY FOR THE EVALUATION OF THE ACCSC MEMBERSHIP OF APPROXIMATELY 680 SCHOOLS. THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE COSTS TO ACCSC IN CONDUCTING FOUR MEETINGS A YEAR TO REVIEW THE ACTIVE MEMBER SCHOOLS AS A PART OF THE CYCLE FOR RE-ACCREDITATION. NEW APPLICANT SCHOOLS ARE ALSO CONSIDERED FOR INITIAL ACCREDITATION AT THESE MEETINGS. OTHER MEMBER SCHOOLS ARE ALSO REVIEWED IN CONJUNCTION WITH VARIOUS OTHER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP, CHANGE OF LOCATION, SATELLITE LOCATION, COMMISSION DIRECTED ACTIVITIES, ETC. ACCSC ALSO SPONSORS AN ANNUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE (PDC) DESIGNED TO PROVIDE RESOURCES AND ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT ITS MEMBER INSTITUTIONS' EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM EDUCATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS. THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PDC ARE INCLUDED IN THESE EXPENSES.
WORKSHOPS: WORKSHOP EXPENSES ARE FOR FUNCTIONS NECESSARY TO HOST APPROXIMATELY TWELVE WORKSHOPS EACH FISCAL YEAR. TYPES OF WORKSHOPS INCLUDE: ACCREDITATION WORKSHOPS, WHICH ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS AND INITIAL APPLICANTS; TEAM LEADER WORKSHOPS; INSTITUTIONAL ENHANCEMENT WORKSHOPS; FACULTY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP, AND OTHER CONTRACTUAL WORKSHOPS.
