FOUNDED IN DECEMBER OF 1975, AHC TODAY OWNS 53 AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMPLEXES PROVIDING HOUSING FOR MORE THAN 18,000 FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS. KNOWN IN THE EARLIER YEARS AS THE ARLINGTON HOUSING CORPORATION, AHC HAS GROWN FROM A GRASSROOTS ENTITY THAT PROVIDED A HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME HOMEOWNERS IN ARLINGTON TO A FULL-SERVICE ORGANIZATION OFFERING COMPREHENSIVE AFFORDABLE HOUSING, HIGH QUALITY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SERVICES (SINCE 2001) AND AWARD-WINNING ONSITE RESIDENT SERVICES (SINCE 1993) THAT IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF OUR RESIDENTS' LIVES.AHC PRIMARILY SERVES FAMILIES WHO EARN BETWEEN 30% AND 80% OF THE AREA MEDIAN INCOME. AREA MEDIAN INCOME, OR AMI, IS THE MIDDLE INCOME IN A GIVEN AREA AND IS THE MEASUREMENT THAT QUALIFIES FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS - AHC'S COMMUNITY RELATIONS (CR) DIVISION PROVIDES SERVICES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY UNDERSTANDING OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND RELATED ISSUES. CR SEEKS TO BUILD POSITIVE, PRODUCTIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMERS, COMMUNITIES, PARTNERS, AND LENDERS THAT WILL EXPAND SUPPORT FOR AHC ACTIVITIES. COMMUNICATIONS OUTREACH INCLUDES TRADITIONAL MEDIA, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND PRINT MEDIA. IN ADDITION, THE DIVISION SUPPORTS AHC'S RESIDENT SERVICES PROGRAMMING AND HELPS WITH CRISIS MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS FOR AHC INC AND ITS AFFILIATES. AHC'S AWARD-WINNING RESIDENT SERVICES PROGRAMMING GIVES RESIDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE THROUGH PRIMARY PROGRAM AREAS: EDUCATION, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, FINANCIAL CAPABILITY, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES - AS PART OF ITS OVERALL PORTFOLIO, AHC PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 36 AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE ASSET MANAGEMENT, CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT, AND OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES. THESE SERVICES GENERATE REVENUE FOR THE ORGANIZATION, WHICH CAN THEN BE RE-INVESTED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OR ACQUISITION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
