"K9 DEMINING CORPS (K9DC)CAMPAIGN: THIS PROGRAM SEEKS TO INCREASE BOTH THE QUANTITY AND QUALIITY OF MINE DETECTION DOGS (MDDS) AND EXPLOSIVE DETECTION DOGS (EDDS) WORLDWIDE. THROUGH THE CAMPAIGN, MLI RAISES PRIVATE FUNDING TO PROVIDE HIGHLY TRAINED DOGS TO "SNIFF OUT" LANDMINES AND OTHER EXPLOSIVES TO SAVE AND IMPROVE LIVES IN SEVERELY CONTAMINATED, WAR-TORN COUNTRIES. MLI ALSO LINKS STUDENTS IN THE UNITED STATES WITH CHILDREN IN MINE-AFFECTED COUNTRIES TO ASSIST YOUNG LANDMINE SURVIVORS AND TO PROMOTE MINE RISK EDUCATION. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, AMERICAN STUDENTS HAVE SPONSORED 40 MDDS AND HAVE HELPED DOZENS OF CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN INJURED BY LANDMINES. ADDITIONALLY, THROUGH CHAMPS, CHILDREN IN WAR-TORN COUNTRIES PARTICIPATE IN INTERETHNIC RECONCILIATION ACTIVITIES TO HELP PROMOTE NATIONAL UNITY AND TO COMBAT ETHNO-NATIONALIST AGENDAS. THE PROGRAM CONNECTS YOUTH FROM DIFFERENT ETHNIC AND RELIGIOUS GROUPS AND FOSTERS RECONCILIATION TO HELP ACHIEVE STABILITY AND A PEACEFUL FUTURE IN AT-RISK COUNTRIES.

SURVIVORS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: MLI'S SURVIVORS' ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS COMBAT THE MYRIAD PROBLEMS FACED BY LANDMINE SURVIVORS BY PROVIDING PROSTHETIC DEVICES, MEDICAL CARE, AND REHABILITATIVE TREATMENT, AS WELL AS EXTENSIVE VOCATIONAL TRAINING, MENTORING, AND JOB ASSISTANCE TRAINING TO SURVIVORS IN NEED.
