NASDA-FAS COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT:NASDA'S COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE'S FOREIGN AGRICULTURAL SERVICE (FAS), IN FORCE SINCE 1982, IS DESIGNED TO HELP U.S. FOOD PRODUCT COMPANIES SOURCE EXPORT OPPORTUNITIES. AS A RESULT OF OUR FAS PARTNERSHIP, NASDA HAS PRODUCED MORE THAN FORTY TRADE SHOW EVENTS IN THE U.S. AND ASSISTED WITH U.S. PAVILIONS IN EVENTS ALL AROUND THE WORLD. FOOD COMPANIES FROM ACROSS THE U.S. ARE EXPOSED TO INTERNATIONAL MARKET OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE PRIMARY GOAL OF PROMOTING U.S. AGRICULTURE AND FOOD PRODUCTS. NASDA PARTICIPATES IN 2 DOMESTIC TRADE SHOWS EACH YEAR:THE AMERICAN FOOD FAIR (AFF): AFF IS AN ANNUAL EVENT PLANNED AND EXECUTED BY NASDA AND CONTRACT STAFF, NAYLOR EVENT SOLUTIONS. NASDA'S TWO PRIMARY PARTNERS ARE USDA-FAS AND THE WORLD TRADE CENTER MIAMI. COMPANIES EXHIBITING IN AFF ARE SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE COMPANIES SELLING U.S. FOOD AND BEVERAGE PRODUCTS.NASDA MANAGES THE EUROMONITOR PROGRAM FOR FAS. THIS IS ONE OF THE MORE "LOW MAINTENANCE" ACTIVITIES THAT NASDA HAS UNDER FAS, AS WE SIMPLY PAY THE BILL WITH FUNDS PROVIDED FROM FAS. THE PURPOSE OF THE EUROMONITOR WEBSITE IS TO MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE ENTIRE COOPERATOR COMMUNITY, FAS/W AND FAS FIELD OFFICES, RELIABLE AND COMPARABLE INFORMATION AND DATA ON GLOBAL MARKETS, COMPETITOR INTELLIGENCE AND CONSUMER TRENDS IN PROCESSED FOODS. ACCESS TO THIS INFORMATION SYSTEM SIGNIFICANTLY ENHANCES THE ABILITY OF THE COOPERATORS TO ASSESS INTERNATIONAL MARKETS FOR THEIR PRODUCTS, AND FOR FAS/W AND FAS FIELD OFFICES TO PREPARE ANALYSIS FOR REPORTING AND INQUIRIES.NASDA ALSO MANAGES THE GLOBAL MRL DATABASE FOR FAS. THE CONTRACTOR IS BRYANT CHRISTIE INC. (BCI). IT'S ANOTHER "LOW MAINTENANCE" ACTIVITY, AS WE SIMPLY PAY THE BILL WITH FUNDS PROVIDED FROM FAS. THE GLOBAL MRL DATABASE, WHICH IS HOUSED UNDER BCI, CONTAINS DATA REGARDING PESTICIDE MAXIMUM RESIDUE LEVEL (MRL) TOLERANCES BY ACTIVE INGREDIENT THAT HELPS FOOD CROP EXPORTERS COMPLY WITH FOREIGN REGULATORY STANDARDS AND AVOID TRADE DISRUPTIONS CAUSED BY THE APPLICATION OF PESTICIDE COMPOUNDS THAT ARE NOT APPROVED IN FOREIGN MARKETS OR THAT EXCEED FOREIGN TOLERANCES. THE GLOBAL MRL DATABASE IS AVAILABLE TO THE ENTIRE COOPERATOR COMMUNITY.NASDA ALSO WORKS WITH THE TRADE SERVICES STAFF WITHIN FAS TO PROVIDE TRADE SHOW ENHANCEMENTS FOR THE USA PAVILIONS WITHIN LARGE SHOWS SUCH AS ANUGA, SIAL PARIS, FOODEX, AND GULFOOD, SIAL CHINA, FOOD & HOTEL CHINA, AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF OTHER INTERNATIONAL FOOD TRADE SHOWS. THESE ACTIVITIES ARE INTENDED TO FURTHER PROMOTE THE U.S. COMPANIES PARTICIPATING IN THESE SHOWS, WITH THE GOAL OF ATTRACTING MORE INTERNATIONAL BUYERS FOR U.S. PRODUCTS.
