RURAL ELECTRIFICATION DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM PROVIDE VARIOUS TYPES OF RURAL ELECTRIFICATION TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO GOVERNMENTS, AGENCIES, COMMUNITIES AND PRIVATE ENTITIES LOCATED IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. DURING 2019, NRECA INTERNATIONAL PROVIDED VARIOUS TYPES OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND ASSISTED WITH RURAL ELECTRIFICATION DEVELOPMENT IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES: ANGOLA, BANGLADESH, BOLIVIA, BURMA, COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ETHIOPIA, GHANA, GUATEMALA, HAITI, JAMAICA, KENYA, LIBERIA, MALAWI, MOZAMBIQUE, PHILIPPINES, UGANDA AND ZAMBIA.
OVERSEAS ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE U.S. ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER AND SPONSOR RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. THESE PROJECTS ARE USUALLY SPONSORED BY ONE OR MORE U.S. COOPERATIVES WHO PROVIDE BOTH THE FUNDING AND VOLUNTEERS WHO ELECTRIFY SMALL RURAL VILLAGES PRIMARILY IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA. DURING 2019 THERE WERE 7 ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS COMPLETED IN BOLIVIA AND GUATEMALA.
DONATED EQUIPMENT AND DISASTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE A MEANS BY WHICH U.S. ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES AND OTHER UTILITIES CAN DONATE THEIR VALUABLE USED ELECTRICAL POWER EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS TO COOPERATIVES AND UTILITIES IN RURAL DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. DURING 2019, U.S. ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES DONATED OVER 14,000 HOURS OF TIME TO OVERSEAS PROJECTS IN BOLIVIA, GUAEMALA AND UGANDA. THEY ALSO DONATED AND PROVIDED SIX USED VEHICLES TO ELECTRIC COOPERATIVES IN GUATEMALA.
