Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative NOVAHTI exists to eradicate sex and labor trafficking in Northern Virginia
Our largest program is serving clients/survivors of sex trafficking. In 2019 we served 24 clients providing basic needs, to therapy and rent assistance. The objective of our restoration program is to offer immediate assistance for safety, food and shelter and walk with them throughout their journey of recovery. We provide full case management, financial assistance within our established policies and work with service providers (ex: professional therapists) to provide clients with the services they need in their healing journey.
Our second largest program is Prevention and Awareness. We provide education and training to the greater community, medical personal, law enforcement, among others. In 2019 we provided training to over 20,000 persons.
Our third program is Disruption. This program is comprised of 1) reaching out to victims/providers trapped in sex trafficking, 2) reaching out to buyers who purchase sexual services from victims being exploited and 3) disrupting criminal networks through strategic research and partnerships with law enforcement and others. In 2019 we visited 22 Illict Massage Businesses (aka brothels) and held 106 conversations. We held 36 outreach events.
