Organizations Filed Purposes: TO PROVIDE RESEARCH THAT WILL GIVE HVAC AND SHEET METAL CONTRACTORS A COMPETITIVE EDGE.

IMPACT OF COVID ON PRODUCTIVITY PROJECT - THE COVID-19 VIRUS HAS CREATED AN EXTRAORDINARY WORLDWIDE EVENT. THE DIRECT IMPACTS TO CONTRACTORS HAVE BEEN SUBSTANTIAL WITH MANY SEGMENTS OF CONSTRUCTION BEING SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. THE IMPACTS ON COST AND SCHEDULE WILL BE SIGNIFICANT. THERE ARE CURRENTLY LIMITED TOOLS AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET THAT CONTRACTORS CAN USE TO QUANTIFY AND SUBSTANTIATE MANAGEMENT DECISIONS AND DEVELOP A DEFENSIBLE APPROACH TO PRICING THE IMPACTS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO IDENTIFY AND QUANTIFY THE IMPACTS ON JOBSITE PRODUCTIVITY. THE IMPACTS MUST BE EVALUATED, QUANTIFIED AND THEN BUILT INTO A USER-FRIENDLY CALCULATOR. ULTIMATELY THE CALCULATOR CAN BE USED TO PRICE CHANGE ORDERS AND QUANTIFY THE IMPACTS ON JOBSITE PRODUCTIVITY.(CONT. ON SCHEDULE O)IT WILL SERVE AS THE STARTING POINT OF NEGOTIATING, AS WELL AS DEFINING ANY EQUITABLE ADJUSTMENT OF STIMULUS OR OTHER FUNDING RECEIVED. THIS WILL SIGNIFICANTLY STREAMLINE THE PROCESS AND MAKE IT AS CLEAN AND SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE.A WEBINAR WAS HELD ON THIS STUDY THAT ATTRACTED 225 SMACNA MEMBER COMPANIES. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF THE FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE VISITS AND DOWNLOADS OF THIS DOCUMENT AND THE CALCULATOR. A WEBINAR BY THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION HAD 459 ATTENDEES.

FIELD LEADERS -THIS WHITE PAPER IS THE CULMINATION OF RESEARCH LISTENING TO LEADERS ACROSS VARIOUS POSITIONS, DIVERSE COMPANIES, AND VARIED GEOGRAPHIES, AS WE SEARCHED FOR THE INDUSTRY'S BEST PRACTICES FOR ACCELERATING FIELD LEADERS' DEVELOPMENT TO SOLVE FOR THE SUCCESSION CHALLENGES IN THE FIELD. PERHAPS NOT SURPRISINGLY, THE FOUNDATION FOUND THAT THERE IS NO "SILVER BULLET" FOR DEVELOPING FIELD LEADERS TO ADDRESS THE URGENT SUCCESSION ISSUE IN THE FIELD. MANY COMPANIES THAT WERE INTERVIEWED LEVERAGED ONE OR MORE OF THE BEST PRACTICES THAT THE FOUNDATION OUTLINE IN THIS PAPER, BUT VERY FEW DEMONSTRATED ALL THESE BEST PRACTICES CONSISTENTLY AND INTENTIONALLY. (CONT. ON SCHEDULE O)THOSE WHO INTENTIONALLY LEVERAGED THESE BEST PRACTICES, HOWEVER, CREATED A CULTURE OF DEVELOPING FIELD LEADERS AND HAVE TURNED IT INTO A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. THE WHITE PAPER WAS PRESENTED IN A WEBINAR DURING THE EDGE CONFERENCE AND IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.

PROJECT CLOSE-OUT BEST PRACTICES -SUCCESSFUL PROJECT CLOSEOUT REQUIRES CLEAR PROCESSES, COMMUNICATION, AND DOCUMENTATION. FOR BUSINESS EFFICIENCY, CLOSE-OUT PROCESSES CAN EITHER MAKE OR BREAK THE PROJECT, ESPECIALLY IN TERMS OF PROFIT MARGINS. THERE IS A DIRECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE OVERALL SUCCESS OF THE COMPANY AND THEIR CAPABILITY TO EFFICIENTLY CLOSE-OUT A PROJECT. TYPICALLY, PROJECT CLOSE-OUT TENDS TO BE A COMPANY-SPECIFIC OPERATION AND A STUDY THAT HOLISTICALLY LOOKS AT DIFFERENT APPROACHES IN THE INDUSTRY UTILIZED BY DIFFERENT COMPANIES IS NEEDED TO IDENTIFY BEST PRACTICES THAT CAN HELP COMPANY'S IMPROVE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY DURING PROJECT CLOSE-OUT. EXISTING LITERATURE SUGGESTS NO SUCH STUDIES HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED. (CONT. ON SCHEDULE O)THIS STUDY IS CURRENTLY IN PROCESS AND IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED AND PUBLISHED IN THE 3RD QUARTER OF 2021.
